Barnes and Noble Nook Tablet 7″: How To Install Apps On External Storage

Barnes and Noble has released a new Nook tablet 7″ that will compete with Amazon’s Kindle Fire. Although the company has used an 8GB internal storage, it runs Android Marshmallow with “adoptable storage” support.

Google introduced “adoptable storage” in the Marshmallow update. With this new feature, users can use external storage as native storage to install apps. However, not all device makers support this feature. Luckily Barnes and Noble’s Nook 7” does.

As mentioned above Barnes and Noble’s comes with 8GB internal storage that is quite low for installing apps. Some apps collect data that can acquire space in the device’s internal storage. With the help of “adoptable storage” users can now install apps on a microSD card. Nook 7” supports up to 128GB external storage.

After inserting a memory card in the slot, go to device setting “Storage & USB” and select microSD card followed by SD card setting. In memory card settings select “Format as Internal” option. Follow the prompts and it’s done. Now your device will use external memory as native storage of the device.

According to 9To5Google, once you enable “adoptable storage” option, the memory card will not appear when you connect the device with PCs. Moreover, remember to switch off your device before removing the microSD card.

Its 7-inch IPS display offers a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. The tablet includes 2MP main and VGA selfie shooter. Users can connect the tablet to the through Dual-Band (2.4GHz/5GHz) Wi-Fi.
