He can have a dislocated shoulder and fractured ankles, quad injuries and be on the wrong side of thirty but that will not stop Derek “The Captain” Jeter from serving up some positivity potion and boldly proclaim that he expects to have a big comeback season. If you’re going to shoot for something then shoot high for it. At least that seems to be what he is saying. Proclaiming that he doesn’t understand the use of setting low expectations.
Jeter has set himself as the one-man team spirit reviver army. Tough job especially when you consider that almost everyone and everything on his team is disintegrating right before the eyes of the desperate New York Yankees fans. Retirements, resignations, suspensions and injuries have beleaguered the team and fans are looking around for a strong tower. It doesn’t matter if that tower can hardly stand. Jeter says as long as he can wield a bat, there’s a hope and a chance.
A championship is always the bottom line for him ever since he started and up until now even as he waited for his wounds to heal and the strength has no completely returned to his legs.
