Sony has been planning for the upcoming launch of the PlayStation 4 for months now. The preparations had gotten to the point where the company was telling stores to take an unlimited amount of Sony PS4 pre-orders, and they would be able to fill them on launch day.
It seems now though that not even Sony could expect the widespread demand that exists out there for the Sony PS4 console.
The next-generation console went up for pre-order on sites and stores such as GameStop for launch day not too long ago.
The expectation was that GameStop would never be able to take enough pre-orders to the point where Sony would not be able to fill them.
This has happened though, as Sony has understated the immense demand for their next-gen console. GameStop has confirmed that they are going to be halting pre-orders of the next-generation console until they can be sure demand can be filled.
Only time will tell if this is a play on the part of Sony and GameStop to further increase demand of the console, and make it seem like the next-generation console is more scarce than it is.
The fact of the matter though is that there is an incredible demand for the Sony PS4, and that wave of momentum is going to continue until launch.
