Well it’s simple most things in Australia cost a lot more based on shipping costs and high taxes.
We read a post on the examiner which stated the below:
“Michael Pachter, analyst for Wedbrush Securities, states that he believes the retail price for the Xbox One will be around $300-$400 and $250-$350 for the PS4.
That’s a huge drop from the predicted price made by Amazon.com, which placed the Xbox One and PS4 at 600 euros (784 dollars) last month. Not only that, but Pachter’s prediction puts the price of the two next gen consoles far below their predecessors. The Xbox 360 and PS3 cost $400 and $600 during their initial release”
However in Australia the initial retail price was $649 for the xbox 360 and which according to wikipedia was the highest price with the United States starting at $399 for the same unit.
The PS3 in Australia started at $699 for the 40GB version and $399 in the US. The 60GB versions retailed for $999.95 in Australia and $599 in the US – according to wikipedia
So in saying that Australia is on the raw end of the deal and to be honest as i lived in Australia the prices for everything is way more expensive than any other country i have been to.
I think being able to get the PS4 and Xbox one at the same price as everyone across the world will be important to game and console developers however it doesn’t look likely.
Although this is just speculation it will most likely be the case that Australia has the highest priced units.
