With the announcement of the PS4 today, one needs to question whether or not the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released on the PS4 or the PS3.
Rockstar would have had the next gen development kits for a while now so they would have had enough time to work on it.
One would think that the the most anticipated game in history (GTAV) would need the power of the PS4, so that doesn’t leave much room for PS3 owners.
Some news sources are posting that the PS4 version may only have marginally better graphics but expect it to run a lot smoother, it’ll certainly have better frame rate and may have a better draw distance but my assumption is that everything will be far more advanced making it perfect for GTA V.
I’ll be honest, I’m in marketing and have been for 10 years and my strategy if I worked for Sony would be to work with Rockstar to make the game only available on PS4 driving sales up for their new console.
The question needs to be asked because we need to be realistic here. Will you purchase the new PS4 purely to play GTA V?
I’ve asked myself and I’ve answered YES but what about the people that can’t afford the new console?

The title for this article is very misleading. I just checked a bunch of other places and there’s no confirmed info on GTA V being released for the PS4. It may make sense for them to do so, but until/unless it’s confirmed maybe you should change that title?
NO NO NO. They have already said that it will def. be released on the PS. Why release it on two consoles if the graphic difference isn’t that extreme? And a very misleading Title indeed.
Well beings they have already taken pre-orders for PS3 & XBOX 360, it is a moot issue as to whether they are being released for current gen. The question is actually whether they will be ported for Ps4 & NextBox or whether said devices will have backwards compatibility.
PS4 won’t have backwards compatibility. But it will stream PS1,2,3 games with its cloud service. I doubt NextBox will have backwards compatibility too.

This is the most prominent example of linkbait I’ve seen in a long, long time. Scrolling through my Google News feed, when I see “GTA to be released on PS4″ without a questionmark or anything, you are misleading people in order to get people to read your website. Shame on you!
I think that Sony told Rockstar Games to purposely delay GTA V so that it will run on the PS4. Why on earth would they release GTA V on PS3 a few months before a new console? It doesn’t make sense. I can also see GTA V getting delayed again for the new XBOX console.
Naa man….there is no way they should pull on such a stunt where people must buy PS4 to play the game…..I believe it will hurt them financially cause most people may buy PS4 much later than its release….and we’ll all b very upset if they release it on PS4 because u must b able to buy off the PS4 first off to play the game…..I think they gonna release it on PS3!!!
Yeah. More PS3 users means more sales.
It would be the stupidest move to only release on ps4 ps3 has the install base even if it did make people buy ps4s the profit would still be way less that sales on ps3 the best thing they can do is release it to both systems. Ps3 being primary and ps4 being a port, because let’s me honest there not gonna remake it completely for ps4!
I’m in my early thirties and since the PS3 has been released I have purchased one game every two years on average. You might look at a gamer like me and on paper assume that I would not buy a PS4 only to play GTAV. But I would. While I have a higher disposable income than your average gamer, I would put the upper end of how much I would be willing to pay for a new PS4 plus GTAV at around $600, even if it meant that I will not be using the PS4 very much after I get done playing GTA.
I’d get it for PS4 if the ps4 isnt going to be as fucking expensive as the last one was, and if it supports keyboard and mouse
