Prepare yourselves ladies and gentleman as Electronic Arts will be rolling out a reveal for the much anticipated Battlefield 4 in about three months.
During the publisher’s earnings call last night their labels president Frank Gibeau said, “We’ve already talked a little bit about that we have a Battlefield title coming next year, but we’re not in a position right now to talk about our development plans and our SKU plan long term.”
“That will come in about 90 days when we get to show you some Battlefield stuff.”
Taking that comment in consideration, EA is currently planning on revealing their next Battlefield installment, probably in late April. That said, it’s highly speculated that Microsoft and Sony will announce their next-generation consoles around March. Hence, the timing on EA’s part let’s us take a look at what Battlefield 4 can dish out on next-gen platforms as well.
Later in the earnings call CEO John Riccitiello added further hints of a next-gen Battlefield 4 title: “We think Battlefield and FIFA are going to help us lead as we move into the next set of technology opportunities and platform opportunities, and continue to get bigger.”
Riccitiello also noted that they are working on two of their “biggest franchises” for the next-generation, FIFA 14 being the other one.
“Beyond Q4, we see a bright light at the end of the tunnel. For EA, digital remains a winner, and our investments are generating strong growth. We’re also investing in Gen4 console technologies and content. We’ve signalled that we’re working on the next editions of our two biggest franchises in Battlefield and FIFA. And we look forward to discussing these programs and many others with you when we provide our fiscal ’14 guidance in May.”
Last year DICE stated that Battlefield 4 will most probably see a release in late 2013 or early 2014.
