Dawnguard PS3 – Users will Miss Out

Bethesda continues to test the patience of PlayStioners, with no official word on the expected release date of Dawnguard PS3 DLC. Skyrim has been a very popular RPG open world game across all platforms. The game developers Bethesda released the first downloadable content for Skyrim in May, 2012. However, it was released only for Xbox 360 consoles.

For some technical reasons the Dawnguard PS3 patch has not seen the light of the day. There’s certainly no problem with the PS3 platform. Almost all the games which can be run on Xbox 360 have had a successful run on PS3. Even with the original Skyrim, PS3 players have reported unplayable drop in frame rates and delays in game saves. Somehow, Bethesda hasn’t been able add new content to Skyrim on PS3 or eliminate performance issues.

The irritation of PS3 gamers is fuelled by the continuing deluge of DLCs that Bethesda keeps on releasing for other platforms. Apart from the Dawnguard PS3, Drangborn PS3 and Hearthfire PS3 are also non-existent. While Bethesda says that they shall release the Dragonborn and Hearthfire updates in 2013, official word is the developers are still ‘working’ on Dawnguard PS3.

It remains to be seen how Bethesda shall reward PS3 gamers. There are speculations that Dawnguard PS3 will probably be available in discount when it is released. Other patches might follow the same trend. Even Sony had started working with Bethesda to eliminate the performance and compatibility issues. The problem seems to be in the way the game saves and processes the DLC. The PS3 architecture is not directly compatible with Skyrim’s methodology.

Though Bethesda is fending the question, there seems to be considerable doubt that Dawnguard PS3 might be indefinitely delayed. Even the VP of Bethesda, Peter Hines has reportedly said that ‘we have committed for Dragonborn’ and are working on Dawnguard PS3.
