The wait for Skyrim Dawnguard PS3 seems to be forever. Bethesda Softworks, the publisher of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, have not released any definite date for availability Skyrim Dawnguard PS3 download content. It has been over six months since, Xbox 360 and PC gamers have been enjoying the Dawnguard expansion for Skyrim. To add insult to injuries, Bethesda had also released another expansion Hearthborn for Xbox 360 back in October. That makes PS3 gamers two versions behind. Rumor has it, to appreciate the patience of PS3 gamers Bethesda might release the Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn [the next Skyrim expansion] at a subsidized rate for PS3 platform.
Skyrim has been very popular among gamers right from its launch in November 2011. Bethesda released the first full expansion to the game – Dawnguard, in June 2012 for Xbox 360 and in August 2012 for PCs. However, due to technical issues, Skyrim Dawnguard PS3 DLC never saw the light of the day. Even though PS3 is a powerful platform, Skyrim had persistent problems with it. PS3 users had complained about slow performance due to the way the game saves data. However, failure to have download content for Skyrim Dawnguard PS3 has been infuriating for gamers.
Bethesda had taken the blame on itself, saying that the technical specs of PS3 are more than enough to run the game, however adding more content [like Skyrim Dawnguard PS3 expansion] has been flagged with many problems. Even Sony had started working alongside Bethesda to resolve the issue. Recently, it was announced that the third expansion of the game – Dragonborn, would be available for PS3.
If Bethesda is able to release the Dragonborn DLC, then it might as well release Skyrim Dawnguard PS3 and Hearthfire DLCs. It remains to be seen if the content, especially the much awaited Skyrim Dawnguard PS3, is available at a subsidized price.

It’s been so long what does it even matter at this point if it even comes out for the PS3. In fact I’ve seen people sell the PS3 skyrim back in a lot of game stores. So I really don’t think Bethesda is going to make much money on the ps3 version of skyrims dlc. So what’s the point?
The point is for the people who have kept waiting and still have their copies of the game. Just a tad stupid to think that because a lot of people have traded-in their copies that many others aren’t still waiting with their copy. They are going to make money out of it no matter what, so there is no reason not to. If they are telling the truth about the work they are putting into making it work on PS3 then they would, if anything, be losing money and will have wasted a lot of time and effort if they do not release them on PS3.
Key words are “If they are telling the truth”. Bethesda also announced release of early 2013. That term could be used for any time before July. Maybe their exclusive deal with Microsoft was for one year instead of one month.
I doubt they’d lie, that would just create a larger problem for themselves, granted “Early 2013″ is vague as is, but since Bethesda’s PR status is in such poor shape as is, I’d highly doubt they’d risk making any worse.
What is Hearthborn?
Hearthfire was a very minor installment of a DLC for Skyrim; it allowed you to own and custom-build property in Dawnstar, Falkreath and Morthal, as well as adopt kids from the Honorhall Orphanage in Riften. It cost $5.00 (correct me if I’m wrong) to download for Steam and Live. It added nothing more than creativity aspects to the game (not a bad thing). One could speculate that it was released just to tide over PC and X-Box, until a new, larger sized DLC could be timely created and released.
The article said “Hearthborn” not “Hearthfire”. OP was just poking fun
Badly written article all over there, at least re-read before you post. Hearthborn…hah… On the actual ‘information’, no evidence whatsoever that they will do this, doubtful unless they have it on sale for a short period after release.
All the DLC’s will arrive to PS3 sooner or later; in the case of ESIV: Oblivion, we didn’t receive the Knights of the Nine DLC until the GOY edition was released; same goes for Fallout 3 and New Vegas as well; Bethesda just has a terrible track record with Sony gaming consoles, but nevertheless the content manages its way over to PS3, it’s just a matter of under what time frame, and circumstances regarding why it cannot be released “on time” (ideally 30 days after X-Box).
I have to say I’m just about sick of sites like bitbag, autoomobile.com, and societyandreligion.com reposting variations of the the same, tired opinion piece merely to drum up search results. I have a feeling that Google would have something to say about this practice. dnixon has literally released some variation of the hack speculative “nothing” post, spamming up the search engine results of google and yahoo. I will be exceptionally happy when these sites and their awful ‘contributors’ go away for ever.
I’m pretty much done with the game, over 320 hrs played and down to just doing radient quests. Once I move on to a new game I won’t be going back to Skyrin no matter what DLC they release so I hope they get a move on an release Dragonborn or they will have lost 1 more customer.
i went into game today and they said dawnguard should be out for ps3 next month
