Tokyo Marui to Release Resident Evil 6 Themed Gas Gun

The gun has a tentative title of “Sig Custom”, and is modeled after Leon S Kennedy’s weapon in the latest Resident Evil title. Scheduled for a Spring 2013 release, the gun is available to adults aged 18 and over for the low-low price of 27,090 Yen. Gas and BB bullets are sold separately.

In the past Marui have collaborated with Capcom multiple times to release several Resident Evil themed guns, and weapons used by main characters Leon, Chris, Jill, and Barry as well as enemy character Ashford have been met with praise by fans of the series.

Leon, who originally appeared in Resident Evil 2, was also the protagonist in the popular Resident Evil 4, and in the latest title Resident Evil 6 is one of the 7 playable characters in the game. In the latest game, he works as a security guard for the president in the Division of Security Operations (DSOP). In his new job Leon relies on his trusty pistol to keep zombies at bay.

In the context of Biohazard 6,Leoncustomizes his standard issue DSOP pistol, and its trigger, hammer, and magazine catch all differ from the standard model. It also possesses a special ‘flash hider’ which prevents smoke emission from the nuzzle when shooting, and also is equipped with a front and rear site. A medallion signifying Leon’s attachment to the DSOP team glistens from the grip of the handgun.

The replica of this gun is based on Marui’s gas blowback series ‘SIG P226R’. In addition to a new exterior, the blowback structure of the pistol has been upgraded, and its magazine has been replaced with an original long magazine. This magazine has a higher capacity gas cylinder than the normal models, and can contain 40 BB bullets. An exclusive gun case has also been prepared for the weapon, which also shows fine workmanship with its elaborate detail. This new weapon really lets you feel like you are playing the part of Leon.
