Week in gaming [October 8-14, 2012]: Dishonored, XCOM: Enemy Unknown

This week sees the release of quite a number of titles and a couple of highly anticipated ones.

Dishonored: Arkane Studios’ first-person stealth action game Dishonored is available for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Corvo, a bodyguard turned assassin that was wrongfully framed for the murder of his empress is now seeking vengeance against those that wronged him. It features non-linear gameplay and Corvo has access to supernatural powers including teleportation and possessing bodies of enemies.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown: Firaxis Games’s remake of the classic UFO: Enemy Unknown, goes back to the roots of the XCOM series, with its turn-based tactical role-playing elements. You can build and expand your base while recruiting and training soldies as well as researching alien technology to turn the tide of battle to your favor.

Other notable releases this week are Kinect-exclusive Fable: The Journey, the fifth game of the Fable series. Pokemon Black and White Version 2 for the Nintendo DS is also releasing this week. Retro City Rampage, an 8-bit open-world action game which parodies classic games like Zelda and Grand Theft Auto makes its way onto the PSN, XBLA and PC. Lastly, Episode 4 of Telltale’s The Walking Dead will be releasing for the PSN, XBLA and PC.
