According to UK’s Retro Gamer magazine, GameCube games will be available via Wii U’s Virtual Console.
The Wii U will be backwards compatible with Wii games with no support for GameCube discs but the magazine stated that GameCube games will “be on the Virtual Console store instead.”
Recently, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said “he’d love to see GameCube games on the Wii U Virtual Console but had “nothing to announce right now” teasing us with a wink.
This information by Retro Gamers could be legit or just a guess, so until Nintendo announces it officially, don’t get too hyped up for it. It would certainly be surprising though if Nintendo didn’t release the GameCube catalog on the console.

I’d like gamecube games in the virtual library and it makes sense. But …. they need to have a connector for the Wiimotes that lets you connect Gamecube peripherals. Yes … I want to use my Bongas again!!
Or they might just release some new peripherals to take more money from us
They will likely re-map the buttons on to the Gamepad/Pro controller and wii remotes/classic controls.
It would have to somehow support Gamecube controllers. The Wii U Gamepad has no analog triggers, which are essential to the gameplay of several Gamecube games (Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi’s Mansion are the big ones I can think of)
hopefully the games are cheap and inexpensive
