Blizzard looking at free-to-play for StarCraft 2 multiplayer

StarCraft 2 lead designer Dustin Browder has said Blizzard is ‘looking at free to play as an option for the multiplayer (of StarCraft 2)’.

He was speaking at an eSports panel at the Valencia eSports Congress.

There is an obstacle that Blizzard has to overcome to achieve this however, “We don’t know how we would monetise it.” said Browder.

“While it might be good fun for me to play against someone with only half the units available to them, that’s not going to be an enjoyable experience for them.” he concluded.
