Metal Gear not Rising anymore on Xbox 360 — in Japan

This just caught us as a rather unexpected surprise, but Konami and Kojima Productions just announced that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance won’t be seeking any revengeance on the Xbox 360 in Japan anymore.

What the exact reason for the cancellation remains vague, as the announcement states there are various forms of reasons to it. The cancellation is just for Japan, the international releases will still proceed as planned.

While it is no secret the Xbox 360 has never sold well in Japan, cancelling one of the more anticipated titles for 2013 just a few months from release seems rather odd to us.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will see Raiden raising hell on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this coming February 19th, 2013 — bar Japan’s inclusion for the Xbox 360 of course.
