We already know the Neo Geo X Gold will be making its re-debut into the console market this coming December 6th, but there are still some uncertain dark clouds over the console’s (or handheld) SD card expansion slot usage and its final specifications.
SNK and Tommo reveals that the NGXG will be able to run games off SD cards. But by the looks of things, they are planning to sell games in SD card form post-launch starting with a Japan-only announced “Ninja Masters Game Card”.
We don’t know yet if gamers will be allowed to download the games digitally and transfer them onto their own SD card at this point however.
Last but not least, the final specs for the NGXG has also been revealed:
- CPU — 1GHz clock rate
- 128MB of RAM
- Built-in 2GB flash memory
- Support for 1-8GB of SD or MMC Card as expansion
- 4.3-inch TFT LCD Screen (480×272 res.)
- 2200mAh Lithium-Ion Battery (up to 6 hours of battery life)
The Neo Geo X Gold will be available on store shelves this coming December 6th, for a whopping $200 or for ¥19,900 if you live in Japan.
[UPDATE] For those clamoring for just the handheld only will be delighted to know that Tommo will indeed be selling a barebones version of the handheld — devoid of the docking station and the replica Neo Geo arcade stick. For how much? A paltry $130.
No announcement on whether Tommo will be planning to sell the docking station and the Neo Geo Arcade Stick individually or not in the future.
