Yes, it was only a matter of time before Sony announce a complete Killzone experience — all in one package. Trilogy you ask? Indeed, the first Killzone game will be getting a HD 720p lick of paint and with full Trophy support.
The first Killzone could have been a very good first person shooter if not for its loads of glitches and poor frame-rates on the PlayStation 2. It’s also no secret that many gamers — Killzone 2 & 3 fans included — didn’t get to experience the first game and this trilogy spells as a very good opportunity for everyone to finally fulfill their Killzone appetites.
Our only wish is to see Sony sort out the kinks from the first game though.
[UPDATE] A few answers from the comments section of the EU PlayStation Blog reveals more info for Killzone HD.
Most importantly, the game will be running at a solid 30fps at 720p HD and the controls will be updated to be more in line with the other games in the trilogy. No 3D support however, but there will be trophies to earn through offline multiplayer against bots as there will be no online functionality for the game. One last thing of note is Killzone HD will come on its own disc.
The other 2 games in the trilogy is of course Killzone 2 and Killzone 3. Both of which comes with multiplayer map packs, free of charge.
Killzone 2 Map Pack Bundle
- Steel & Titanium Map Pack
- Flash & Thunder Map Pack
- Napalm & Cordite Map Pack
- Killzone 3 Steel Rain Map Pack
- Killzone 3 Retro Map Pack
- Killzone 3 From The Ashes Map Pack
Killzone Trilogy will be hitting store shelves and the PlayStation Network Store for the PlayStation 3 this October 23rd for $39.99.
