Week in gaming [27 August - 1 September 2012]: Guild Wars 2, Madden NFL 13

This week sees release of MMORPG Guild Wars 2, Madden NFL 13 and a few PlayStation 3 collections among others.

Guild Wars 2: Developed by ArenaNet for the PC, the sequel promises more innovation in the MMORPG genre. Like its predecessor, it won’t require a subscription fee but only a purchase to install the game. It features a dynamic event system that reacts to players’ decisions leaving lasting effects on the game world. The game’s combat will be dynamic where players can use the environment to their advantage.

Madden NFL 13: Developed by EA Tiburon, this year’s edition of the annual Madden series features a redesigned passing system and a physics system powered by the new Infinity Engine. It’s available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PS Vita.

Other notable releases are Mass Effect 3‘s story-driven DLC, Leviathan where players track down an entity capable of killing the Reapers. It’s being released for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The PS3 will see a few new collections this week: Infamous Collection, Journey Collector’s Edition, Ratchet & Clank Collection and God of War Saga which includes GOW 1-3, GOW Origins Collection and other bonus content. Lastly, indie action platformer They Bleed Pixels releases on Steam this week.
