High Moon: “We’re staying true to the comic book” for Deadpool

High Moon Studios, developers of Transformers War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron is currently developing a new game starring Deadpool, the merc with the mouth.

Speaking to AusGamers, game director Sean Miller said the team are big fans of the comic and will be “getting it right.”

“We have, I think, an understanding of what makes Deadpool special and we worked with Marvel to make sure that we do; we’re getting it right.” said Miller. “We’re staying true to the comic book roots of the character but also drawing from the things that we feel are successful in other areas; videogames, all of that other stuff.”

Miller also said that Marvel is totally behind the game and are giving them full support. “We’re coming at it as fans saying, this is the game that we’d like to play as Deadpool. And the most exciting thing is that Marvel is totally behind it.”

“They’re on board with making this a fun experience, and they’re not afraid of making fun of the things that need to get made fun of. It’s the thing that excites them about Deadpool as a character – that it offers a different spin on the superhero universe.” Miller continued.

In the game, Deadpool, like the comic books, will have voices in his head and will be guiding him. There will also be appearance by other Marvel characters such as Psylocke.

Deadpool will be releasing for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013.
