Day Z creator rejects offers from “many, many publishers”

Day Z, the ArmA 2 mod that is currently in the process of being turned into a standalone game has gotten lots of looks from publishers.

Speaking with MCV, Dean Hall, creator of the original mod and lead developer on the standalone project said that he rejected plenty of offers from publishers.

“Many, many publishers have contacted me about DayZ but I always ended up repeating the same question: what benefit are you providing development?” said Hall.

“What value is actually being added to the process by publishers when you can distribute for free?”

The full interview is featured in MCV’s latest issue.

  1. I’d like to see this developer do well. Its impressive enough he’s doing it by himself. I would like to buy his game.
