It just looks like another ordinary day at the office for famed Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima when he usually tweets about what he eats, updates and hints on his FOX Engine, and some otaku spazzing here and there. But today he mentions something rather odd on his Twitter, something he hasn’t talked about often, and that is Silent Hill.
Kojima’s is quoted as saying on his Twitter:
“Silent Hill” movie that I borrowed from Murashu as the next sequel is coming out. It would be a scary game if we make Silent Hill game on FOX engine.?(?_?;)
Now if that isn’t intriguing enough, he continues:
“Silent Hill” is in closed room setting and doesn’t require full action so that we can focus on the graphic quality. Enemy doesn’t have to be a lot or move fast. It only requires scariness by graphics and presentation. As being a creator making action game in open world, such game is very enviously attractive. Wish someone could create this on FOX engine.
Now of course this doesn’t automatically mean that Hideo Kojima is secretly working on a Silent Hill title — with his new FOX Engine too for that matter. But usually when he drops hints like this, it often somehow ends up coming to fruition, one way or the other.
Anyone in Konami wants to resurrect the now-in-life-support horror franchise?

If it’s true, I hope they r leading the project on PS3, since that’s the way to go, and the PS brand is the only place where the silent hill franchise feels “at home”.

Indeed, screw the PlayStation. That brand is bleeding money like no tomorrow. Concentrate on brands that do make money Kojima before you too bite the dust because of overhype and underdeliver like Sony.

Considering how the best Silent Hill game in a decade came out on Wii, I’d be fine if they continued with Nintendo.
