Media Molecule shows off “Tearaway” — a PS Vita Exclusive

Announced at the Sony gamescom 2012 press conference, the makers of the much beloved Little Big Planet has announced a new PS Vita exclusive, simply called “Tearaway”.

As the name hints, Tearaway is a game simply based on paper. Now we know what you’re thinking, but this isn’t a Paper Mario rip-off, far from it in fact. Players will take on the role of a paper character going by an odd name of Iota. The game will be played by utilizing the full functionality that the PS Vita possess, which literally means poking a hole in the game’s level — no kidding.

The concept of Tearaway is to interact with the game’s world using your fingers. Players can arrange, shape, and attack enemies simply through using the back touch panel of the PS Vita. Of course, the motion sensor, voice recognition through the mic, and even the PS Vita’s camera will all be put to use in Tearaway.

Tearaway certainly looks like the killer app the PS Vita desperately needs and as far as we’re concerned, we are very excited about the game. No release date for now, but we hope to see the title sometime next year.
