Sony has abandoned The Last Guardian trademark, the highly anticipated title from Team ICO which was first announced in 2009 and has since been in development hell with frequent delays and no shows at tradeshows and conventions.
According to the USPTO TARR report, the trademark was abandoned because “no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued”. Sony has two months to file a petition to retain the trademark.
Sony may have accidentally let the trademark go past its due date or it could be a sign that the game is on its way to being cancelled.
