Week in gaming [July 30 - August 5, 2012]: Kingdom Hearts 3D, Deadlight

Another slow week which sees the release of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance for the Nintendo 3DS and Deadlight for the Summer of Arcade on Xbox Live.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: The seventh game of the series, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance for the 3DS features two playable characters in Sora and Riku which the game will switch between using a feature called the Drop Gauge. Another feature new to the series is the ability to recruit creatures called Dream Eaters which will then unlock new abilities for Sora and Riku.

Deadlight: Developed by Tequila Works and available on XBLA, Deadlight is a sidescroller survival horror cinematic puzzle platformer. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, players will play as Randall Wayne as he travels to find an advertised safe zone for survivors.

Other games worth mentioning are Risen 2: Dark Waters, a pirate-themed action RPG developed by Piranha Bytes for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and Orcs Must Die! 2, a third person tower defense hybrid downloadable title for the PC.
