DayZ might get free-to-play standalone version

DayZ creator, Dean Hall, told Eurogamer that there are currently 420,000 people playing DayZ. “We’ve got 420,000 now. We’ll have 430,000 tomorrow,” Hall said.

The popularity of the mod has made Hall migrate to different servers six times, losing five to overheating. Due to its success, Hall is thinking of developing a standalone version of the mod which could be free-to-play.

Hall also confirmed that dogs will be coming to DayZ and said the breed; “At the moment, it’s a German Shepherd.”
