Was Sony rushing the PS4 project in 2010 or at least the security side of it after the hacking news reached worldwide that same year?
It wasn’t until 2 years ago that the PS3 was finally infiltrated after Sony launched it in 2006. The first known hack was the PS Jailbreak which took advantage of PS3′s security through the USB port after the modding group commercialized a usable dongle for the masses.
Soon after that, a lot of alternatives has been popping out and there’s even a cheaper route to go with, such as using mobile devices for the jailbreak process. Then George Hotz arrived to the scene and introduced the first custom firmware with the help of exploits found by fail0verflow.
So, it’s quite easy to believe if Sony is hiring Mr. Attila Vass for their next PlayStation adding that he worked on the graphic library and security for the unnamed platform between August 2010 and April 2012, according to his Linkedin profile.
For the record, August 2010 is the month where the first PS3 jailbreak was announced, PS Jailbreak.
