Current Final Fantasy 11 producer and long time Square Enix veteran Hiromichi Tanaka, announced at Vana Fest 2012 that he will be resigning from the company due to health reasons as revealed to Famitsu (translation by Andriasang) in an interview.

Akihiko Matsui will be taking over as producer for the MMO who is also working on Square Enix’s other MMO, Final Fantasy 14.

Hiromichi Tanaka is a long serving member of the company, from the days before Square merged with Enix. He has worked on games like Xenogears and Chrono Cross as well as countless Final Fantasy titles.

Another reason that he said contributed to his decision to leave Square Enix, was so that he can go back to being a solo game developer.
