9 most anticipated Wii U games

With the Wii U showcase at E3 behind us, it’s time to look at the most anticipated titles for Nintendo’s latest console offering. Titles in this list are only those that have been confirmed.

1. Darksiders

One of the knocks on the Wii U have been its specifications, some developers indicating that it can’t even match with this generation’s consoles but Darksiders 2 developers Vigil Games have come out saying that their latest sequel on the Wii U will be on par with the current generation. Vigil Games have promised that they will take full advantage of the Wii U Game Pad to give a truly unique experience for Darksiders 2 on the Wii U. It is slated for a holiday release.

2. Scribblenauts Unlimited

Scribblenauts Unlimited by 5th Cell features the item creation system found in the previous games and adds a new item editor which allows players to combine objects, change behaviours of objects and change the look of the objects. It is scheduled for a holiday release.

3. Pikmin 3

The latest Pikmin sequel will feature new types of Pikmin and abilities and the same great gameplay set in a bright and vibrant world that made the series a fan favourite.

4. New Super Mario Bros. U

The game will feature a five player multiplayer, with one player on the Game Pad and the other four on WiiMotes. An all new ‘Boost Mode’ will let the player on the Game Pad to place blocks for the other players to reach secret areas or make difficult jumps. It is slated for a holiday release.

5. ZombiU

Probably the most impressive Wii U game at E3, ZombiU by Ubisoft is a first-person survival horror game that takes full advantage of the Wii U Game Pad features. It also have a few pretty neat features that doesn’t rely on the Game Pad such as when your character dies, he/she will turn into a zombie and you can then hunt your old self down to get back your equipment. It’s slated for a holiday release.

6. Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition

The Batman Arkham series is the best comic book based games ever made and the Wii U will be getting a special Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition which of course will take advantage of the Wii U Game Pad and will include all previously released DLC. Scheduled for a holiday release.

7. Assassin’s Creed 3

Ubisoft’s latest Assassin’s Creed sequel on the Wii U will let players change equipment on the fly and have the minimap available at all times on the Game Pad. AC3 is set to be released on October 30, 2012 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Ubisoft has said they hope to finish the Wii U version alongside the other versions.

8. Rayman Legends

Rayman Legends platformer which supports up to five-players and will use the Wii U Game Pad, Wii U Pro Controller as well as the WiiMotes. The player using the tablet will control a new character named Murphy which has the ability to manipulate the level. A release window have not been revealed.

9. Project P-100

Project P-100 by Platinum Games is a Pikmin-styled action game where the player goes around recruiting citizens who can then help fight the giant enemy robots. Two type of attacks will be available, Team Attacks and Unite Attacks. Team Attacks are basically the standard attacks and Unite Attacks can be triggered once the on-screen batteries are filled up and will transform the player’s group into a giant weapon. Defensive and dodging moves will also be available.
