Diablo 3′s 1.0.2 patch is now live and with it, comes more nerfing of the Monk class as well as a number of bug fixes and auction house features. The patch notes can be found here.
A few hours after the patch went live, the servers were experiencing problems again and was brought down for emergency maintenance.

“We’re aware of issues affecting our authentication servers which may cause players to experience failed or slowed logins (e.g. getting stuck at “Retrieving Character List”). We’re currently investigating the cause of these issues and have brought all Diablo III game servers offline for maintenance. We will provide updates as they become available.”
The maintenance have since been concluded for both the servers and the auction houses but “commodities are still disabled at this time.” They are still investigating latency issues that might cause players to get delays on their purchased items from the auction house. Blizzard says that the items are not lost and players should check back again if the item doesn’t immediately appears in the Completed tab.

this crap is getting old, every time i try to log in this is happening!!! unlike some i work for a living and cant game all day but when i get a chance i would like to play the game i spent 60 BUCKS ON
I feel you man, I really do. Some argues that buying a game means you don’t own it but only lease it, but it doesn’t matter. You should be able to use the product you paid for no matter the terms.
