Ice and I discuss L.A. Noire and some of the things I’m not happy about after my first 3 cases. Ice thinks I’m crazy, I think I’ll need a lot more time with the game to truly have an educated opinion on the gameplay. What do you think?

I liked HR it was a fun game, but for some reason I’m not interested in LA Noir. Maybe it’s because I don;t like cop shows and LA Noir reminds me of them. I will be able to play it in a few weeks so maybe I’ll change my mind.
Yeah it must be your attachment to the backdrop and theme. I loved Red Dead and the fact that Rockstar is taking the genre to other places besides standard GTA urban regurgitation, like it has with every GTA. At some point that gets overdone…

Heavy Rain was a hit or miss, I actually liked Heavy Rain. It had it’s flaws but overall i thought it was good. I wouldn’t call it great but i liked it. If L.A. Noir is going in the direction HR was then it makes me even more interested in it. Appreciation for engaging story telling hasn’t hit the masses yet, maybe Noir will change that…

Tor, you seriously need to play more L.A. Noire. If you aren’t completely engaged when you start doing missions in the “Traffic” desk then you may as well sell your copy. It’s fun how different peoples’ opinions can be. You think the game is just “cool” during this stage of the game (Patrol I believe it’s called) yet during that same part of the game I was already creaming my pants. Now that I am doing missions in the “Homicide” desk I honestly believe that L.A. Noire has ruined every other story based game that has come before or will come out in the next few years. In my opinion it cannot be overstated that L.A. Noire really is the next evolution of video games. Like Adam Sessler said in his review, unlike in most games where you can separate the different aspects (graphics, combat ect) and judge them, it’s nearly impossible to do so here since all of the elements are so interdependent. I hate to sound like one of those corny bullet points on the back of the game box but L.A. Noire really is the gold standard by which all other games will be judged now. Team Bondi (In a just world) should be recognized as the developers of the year for their accomplishment. These guys have raised the bar for the game industry. Oh and a side note I agree with Ice about BF3. BF3 as nice as it looks will be just a standard military fps game at the end of the day. L.A. Noire is doing things that no one has ever done before and sets the stage for the future of video games. I’d apologize for sounding like I am sucking L.A. Noire’s nuts but…I AM! The game is the SHIT! Best new game that I’ve played this year by far.
Regardless of what L.A. Noire is doing, it doesn’t have me like that yet. It’s cool so far but I want more. So we’ll see as I play more of the game.

Tor, everything should click for you the more you play. The patrol desk wasn’t that great imo, but everything after that is great. I haven’t beat the game yet, I’m doing homicide and the game is brilliant. Too bad it keeps freezing on me and won’t allow me to move on. I read around the web and noticed I’m not the only one having this freezing problem, and I’m on the PS3.
