Mulholland Books, in collaboration with Rockstar Games, will be publishing a series of digital downloadable short stories for the upcoming L.A. Noire that will base on the characters and cases from the video game called L.A. Noire: The Collected Stories. Renowned Mystery and Crime writers like Lawrence Block, Megan Abbott, Joyce Carol Oates, Jonathan Santlofer, Andrew Vachss, Duane Swierczynski, and Francine Prose have all signed on to write these short stories for the anthology surrounding the 1940’s Hollywood era of deception, murder, and mystery. Readers will be captivated by the reintroduction to characters from the game while getting a personal look inside, not just the dark world that Rockstar has made for L.A. Noire but also into their lives in Los Angeles. Many will notice familiar faces and familiar cases from the game that have been given a new spin to tell the emotional stories of protagonists, the deceivers, and the victims who suffered.
Right now only “The Girl” by Megan Abbott has been released on the Rockstar Games site link below for those interested on what is to come. Select stories will follow before the launch of the video game on May 17, 2011 in North America and May 20, 2011 in Europe. However, “L.A. Noire: The Collected Stories” has been dated by Rockstar Games and Mulholland Books for major e-book retailer stores on June 6, 2011 for those that want the entire collection.
