Official Update on PSN Server Status

Official Update on PSN Server Status

As you may have noticed after the release of three hugely anticipated games this week, the PlayStation Network has been down since Wednesday giving users the error code 80710A06. After a couple of days had passed Sony finally gave an update on the status of the servers. There wasn’t much information in it but they did tell the fans it would be a day or two before the servers were back up. Finally Sony gave a little information about the servers and why they went offline, but still no definitive update on when the service will be online. check out the official update below.

An external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. In order to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th. Providing quality entertainment services to our customers and partners is our utmost priority. We are doing all we can to resolve this situation quickly, and we once again thank you for your patience. We will continue to update you promptly as we have additional information to share.

Thank you very much for your patience while we work to resolve this matter.

During this time you may:
Not be able to access the PlayStation®Store
Have difficulty signing in to the PlayStation®Network
Not be able to play online games
See a maintenance page when attempting to access the PlayStation®Network

Note: When you log into the PlayStation Network, a message may appear which states, “the PlayStation Network has been suspended”. This does not mean that your account has been suspended; it simply means the PlayStation Network has been taken offline. Please wait until the maintenance window has passed before attempting to connect to the PlayStation Network again. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

LOL Sony Fanboys are going to have to suck on this one for quite awhile! LOL

  2. Fucking hackers.

  3. This is why is own 2 consoles and a pc.

  4. Eat it Sony!

  5. CandidAnthony says:

Biggest embarrassment in online gaming history IMO.

    • I can see you are greatly effected by this problem. Maybe you should go outside, ride a bike or something since you clearly are a non-stop gamer.

    • Chad Duncan says:

Dude Stfu. Honestly XBL has had more issues then PSN.

      • More issues? Please elaborate. Sure XBL has been down in the past but only once in 07 when it was down for a week due to high volumes. Since then, it’s been a couple hours here, a couple hours there every blue moon. PSN has been down for what…6 days now. Sony just NOW realized that personal information may have been compromised and that’s including your Credit Card Info. Also it was Sony that turned off the servers 6 days ago and at that time they were aware that a breach may have occurred but not the extent and like I said, are just NOW advising that personal information may have been compromised. Sure CandidAnthony may be coming across as a little hostile towards Sony but he is making some very serious valid points. XBL’s history of “issues” combined do not come anything near this current PSN hacking situation. This is a very serious situation. You shouldn’t be taking this lightly. There are now articles stating that some people of come forward and said that they have had fraudulent activity on their credit cards. Could be fake, could be real or could be just coincidence. Either way, every PSN member is at risk and a potential target. Glad I didn’t put any of my credit card info on PSN. I didn’t trust PSN then and it looks like I was in just to be skeptical with Sony’s open network.

  6. CandidAnthony says:

Just got Tiger Woods 12 and PSN has been down a week. Fuck you Sony. Any argument Sony Fanboys had against Xbox live has been pretty much crushed now. How the fuck can you have your service off for a week and still try and show up for work the next day if your Sony. So here we go, Fuck Sony. Fuck Jack Tretton. Fuck Eric Lempel. And Fuck you Ken Kutaragi. Last but not least, fuck blind psn fanboys.

    • Reginald Sutton says:

I’m sorry Sony fanboys bother you so much but don’t you think that’s a little harsh. Did you feel the same way when XBL was down for 2 weeks during the holiday launch of Halo 3?

      • Actually Xbox Live was not down for 2 weeks. Due to an increase of users during that period getting online caused connection issues for those 2 weeks. People like myself didn’t have a problem at all connecting. Big difference when the company actually shuts down the access vs a flux of new gamers accessing Xbox Live bogging the network down. Oh and Sony doesn’t own anyone shit however long this will be down. Read your EULA that you most likely skipped when you said agree to accessing PSN. Sony may provide some sort of compinsation but act like you are owed some down time. Play your other systems or actually just hit up the gym some more.

        • Yes XBL was down. It wasn’t 2 weeks but 11-13 days for some still constitute an obscenely long outage time. Regardless of the reasons it was down, they were down. The point should be WHY are we going nearly two years in the past for an outage of this magnitude in the first place. PSN is down and it has nothing to do with XBL. You can still watch Netflix on PSN and play other single player games. If you live your life on line then now would be the time to point and say “HA HA” with Nelson from the Simpsons voice. For those who have more then one gaming system this shouldn’t deprive us from online activities. For those who only have PSN, you can’t go 5 days or as Candid Anthony states a week without connecting? Seriously i think people whine too much nowadays about small trivial things.

          • Reginald Sutton says:

Agreed. I only have a PS3. My son has an Xbox but I bought it for him so I can go in his room and play it when I want. PSN being down sucks but there is something called single player campaigns to play. Sure, I want to check out the Portal 2 co-op online but for now I’m enjoying the single player. I think the main people who are taking this really hard are the COD players.

    • Not to interrupt the fucking of any of the corporations or individuals listed above but just wanted to point out that PSN has been down for 5 days. If we’re counting all of today (Sunday April 24th) which hasn’t passed completely. I could have sworn that 1 week = 7 days…. How old are you? Just asking because if you have 5 days in your week then you typically have 260 days in your years. You age 140% faster then us normal beings in normal calendar days, weeks and years. With the exception to years such as 2011, where you would have 265 days…

  7. Michael Mitchell says:

Oh well. Plenty of alternatives for multiplatform users like myself. Pretty much the same scenario before it went down.

  8. This just shows how some peoples lives are so dependent on mulitplayer gaming, PSN going down doesn’t even come close to affecting me. Plus I really don’t see what the big deal is about, a primarily free service goes down for a couple of days. This almost as bad as the whole PS3 leap year bug, why can’t just get over it?

  9. Frederick Vazquez says:

i kno this sux i cant even try my socom 4 online wtf!!

  10. Chad Duncan says:

People just need to chill out and let sony do there thing. Yeah it sucks that PSN is down. But its not the end of the world. Also, if your so pissed about not being able to play a game online, then maybe you really need to get out of the house. :-P

  11. CandidAnthony says:

Still down. Unreal embarrassment. Oh and I love the sony fanboy arguments. “Well Ugghhh, XBL was down too! So STFU its not a big deal! Waaaaahgaagh”. When you use ammo against XBL bashing them for going down and getting your laughs, then when it happens to PSN in a much worse way, you really cant go back and lean on the XBL issues. It shows that your basically a fucking kid, and an you are embarrassing yourself. XBL did go down. Never this long. Never potentially spilled credit card and other personal info. Never down this long, oh did I say it was never down this long? When your a company as big as Sony and you get taken off fucking line for a week with no end in sight you should really just pack it in and fire your entire online gaming staff. And if your the President of Sony Global, you should fire your CEO immediately. Jack Tretton should be fired. I have no idea how this buffoon can even consider showing his face this year at E3. If he does the crowd should be ready to throw rotten tomatoes at him. Sony has a real piece of shit on its hands right now, and the real scary part about it is that it looks like they have no direction what so ever. How do they compete? How do they even think for a second they will be able to compete online with XBOX when Microsoft releases the next console. XBL will be lightyears ahead of PSN by then, and it basically is right now. Got Tigerwoods for PS3 this past week, cant even sign in to use my EA code. Should have got it for 360, also really blows having to wait 60 seconds for the huge load times.

  12. Randen Montalvo says:

Why must someone bring up XBL in a PSN article, shall i bring up my EZ Pass service for tolls to follow in bringing a completely different service into a topic that clearly states nothing about another service rather then focusing on the outage in which every service has had a outage which makes bickering rather useless at this point? My Brighthouse service goes down lesser, lets defend that corporation because of some kin relationship i have that creates resentment for another services woes enlarging my ego. LOL. just childish how some behave….its a outage..its happend before…secure your data and move on with life.
