@mikemadden, I can buy everyone on this board a PS3! I dont want one, it isn’t worth it: to me. Killzone, Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Gow, are all pounded by the competition. With exception of sales of Gow vs Ninja Gaiden, but I like Ninja Gaiden far better than Gow & I have no problems with Gow, good game. However, the others; been there done that & did it much better! I was getting one for GT5, I love racers & I cant rent that & experience it fully. A game like Forza & GT must be experienced over at least 30 hours. But when is GT5 coming to retail? Yeah, no one knows!

That reply is a mixed bag. Sony PS2 and PS1 library was riddled with crappy software. So many devs were making games for those platforms to make money that a ton of shitty games came out. Xbox was the leader in awesome exclusive games. Now they have switched positions and Sony makes all the awesome exclusives and Xbox has a few crappy games. Crackdown 2 was fun because of the engine, but wasn’t better than Crackdown 1. Fable III IS better than Fable II. Who cares if they use the same engine when they make the game better? As far as I’m concerned, an engine is only dated when the developer has nothing else they can do with it. I truly hate the argument that graphics mean everything and while you make good points Saigon, some of your points are wrong. I don’t understand this need to have ‘Engine’ and ‘Graphic’ updates for every new iteration of a series. You do what you need to tell the story. Uncharted 2 wasn’t better because of it’s graphics, it was better because it told the story in much better ways than the first one. The use of cinematics, voice overs and gun gameplay trumped what was in the first one. Still the same engine too! Just like Gears 2 did. Same engine but tweaked somewhat to tell a better story. Gears is lackluster in the story department though. This whole sales=quality argument is stupid. REACH will outsell every FPS on the market AND is a high quality game. Why does it need new death animations? Who the fuck analyzes their death? Do I need to even list the features in REACH? Did you know that REACH has the most detailed physics in an FPS this gen? That’s quality!

Name one FPS game where you can shoot a grenade or a rocket in motion? Name one FPS game where you can stick a grenade to a rocket that’s already in motion? Name one FPS game where you can ricochet a bullet off of a wall and kill someone? The list goes on. The physics are THE BEST this gen. There isn’t one game that tops the physics engine in REACH, not even Crysis AFAIK. Not only that but you can build your own levels, play co-op, share levels and export your videos as 720p HD masters and edit them more. No other game does this and it does this without glitches. THAT my friend is QUALITY. Stop using QUALITY to describe GRAPHICS, cuz that is what you are doing. I don’t give a shit how good the graphics are, if the gameplay doesn’t match up, it’s pointless. Killzone 3 is a graphic beast but it’s gameplay doesn’t match up to it’s graphics. It’s good but not great. The only reason your girlfriend quotes Visari is because she’s a PSfangirl. I LIVE here in America. Why should I care about the gaming markets elsewhere? And I said I have a server for my music. How is that bot behavior? I only care about the US market because that’s where I buy my games. That has nothing to do with the devs. I love japanese games just as much as the next otaku. In terms of sales, I want America to sell the most consoles so I will continue to have games to buy for my consoles. If the 360 fails in Japan, that doesn’t affect me here. Same with Europe. And you should hope that the Euro market doesn’t fail.

Being able to jump in and out of a single player campaign making co-op without having to exit and then set the game up for co-op IS innovate. 60 player online is also not innovative. Frontlines Fuel of war for the 360 had 50 player online battles at least 2 years before R2 came out. FF XI is an MMO on the 360 and PS2 and there are much more than 50 or 60 players playing at once. R2 having 60 player multiplayer and a separate part of the game for co-op was not Innovative for it’s time.

When SONY talked all that s*** about having all their games playable: now they make you buy a new copy & call it classics for $40. For years I have said that I do not care about the score for a review. I read the text which is THE ACTUAL REVIEW. A dumb number doesn’t tell you much. During this WZ, Tor mentioned that someone left a comment about how he didn’t leave a score for his Enslaved review. Had this not been discussed I would have never known. I read the review and left some comments not knowing that there was no score there. It’s good to know that I’m not a hypocrite lol Now I have to give Tor even MORE props. Fuck review scores. If you want to know what someone thinks of a game READ THE REVIEW!

Yeah the last time I saw her was E3 and about joining that internet game show.
To me overhyping is raising expectations to unrealistic hights which the game cannot possibly live up to. The reason I cannot stand overhyping is that it can sour a game for me, for example lets say every warzone up until the release of Portal 2; Tor and HHG spent 20 minutes praising the game, I think that it would get to the point where I would have to stop listening to the warzone inorder to enjoy the game to its fullest. The same sought of thing happened with GOW3 for me. Hyping a game is good, and is expected from journalists as they are often the ones who play the game first, but they need to now the limits as too much hype often hurts the game for other people.
Good show HHG is right to me it’s game quality to the publishers its sales if they sell what they expect to then they will make another game. Not every game will sell 3mill out the gate like certain titles I don’t think xbox fanboys realize this. look at the sales of other exclusives that 360 had this year.
MOTY 60 paler multiplayer is a tech innovation. Innovation isnt limited to game play, graphics ad sound. Online innovations for consoles with NPC s and the amount of players per game is def a tech innovation. There are not many MP FPSs Tht have that amount of players and look like resistance 2 nor have a engine that can run it . Give credit where it’s due. There are many reasons that games like MAG are technical innovations that arnt possible on other current gen consoles, of course excluding the PC realm.
rblover69, The conversation was not about M.A.G. The conversation was about R2 and montana_saigon saying for it’s time, R2 was innovative because it had 60 player online matches. I pointed out that it was not innovative because 2 years before that, Xbox 360 exclusive Frontlines: Fuel of war was doing 50 player online matches. Why are you bringing in M.A.G when the conversation was about R2? Also show me proof that a game like M.A.G can’t be done on any of the current gen consoles. IE. 360. I want proof. If you have nothing to support your view that M.A.G can’t be done on the 360, then you are giving an opinion with nothing to back it up with. Just because A game with 256 players hasn’t been done on the 360 doesn’t mean it can’t be done. Now I agree with you, give credit where credit is due, and I give credit to M.A.G that it is the only FPS to go the distance to have 256 players in a single match. But just because something hasn’t been done on the 360, doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

I played the Vanquish Demo and hated it. On top of that, no multiplayer and short single player campaign. Maybe the final copy is much better. So I will wait until it’s around $20 or borrow it from my brother if he gets it, but I am not paying full price for it.
Yawn. Another rant about other sites and or peoples opinions regarding reviews. HHG reviews games playing an hour into it. HHG gives 12/10 for GoW3…ya real objective. Says Alan Wake isn’t consistent with it’s graphics yet gives GoW 3 a 12/10 meanwhile GoW3 is also inconsistent with it’s graphics. Compare Hermes to Aphrodite. Night and day difference. And he wants to point out reviewers taking points off of games for not being long enough but then doesn’t take them off on other games. Ya HHG, your reviews are SOOOO much more consistent and reliable. Just “real talk”.

I didn’t know if you could either because I stream to it (I assumed you could though)… just like Tor does…… Why would you attempt to rip a cd to a system if you have everything set up to avoid things like that?
the front page has turned into a fanboy orgy once again. and i had nothing to do with it. ps. ripping cds or mp3s to my ps3 is one of the reason my ps3 is always hooked up to my tv. i only have one hdmi cord so what ever console not being used is put away.

Don’t tell me the COD engine isn’t dated. So they add a rocket ship taking off or some more exploding red barrels, so what, yet it will sell millions. Why would Activision do an overhaul of the COD engine ? if they did that that would mean no COD title next November.
Speaking about Vanquish and destructoid’s review score; I bought vanquish today and while I was waiting for my friend to show up I did something I rarely do and looked at the back of the box. There was a quote from destructoid saying “bloody fantastic”. Didn’t destructoid take a huge shit over vanquish and then gave it a 5/10? That shit was hilarious. Destructoid and Jim Sterling are trash.
