Today HP agreed to purchase Palm at a price of $5.70 a share, this $1.2 Billion dollar transaction will help HP become a leader in the mobile phone market and give Palm a chance to stay around for a while. Palm has been said to be shopping around for a buyer for a while and it was widely thought that the leading cell phone manufacturer HTC would purchase Palm but last week they announced they weren’t interested. Does this mean we will be seeing a webOS slate in the future? Hit the comments and let us know what you think!

Thats pretty interesting… Wonder what this will help spawn…. god knows guess we will have to see what HP has up their sleeves.
LOL WebOS Slate or interface on top of another OS would be pretty nice to see. I love WebOS, i think it’s a very slick and intuitive Operating System. The move with HP i think is good step. HP has been improving on almost every major aspect of their business for a couple of years now. I remember when their laptops where shitty pieces of rubble and their services were a waste of time and usually them force feeding bullshit in shiny coating. They’ve changed enough to where i respect their products and services for quality and no longer dismiss them. It will be interesting to see how they tackle the mobile market with no real need to have to re-develop from the ground up a OS, given that WebOS is already market/user tested. Basically there main focus would be improving it and designing hardware for it to use.
