Want a demo for a hack and slash game based off one of the most famous poems ever? Well, head on over to your PSN store and download the Dante’s Inferno demo and you too can be killing death and exploring the underbelly of hell.
The demo is live for PS3 owners, and it’s going live on the 24th of December for Xbox users. I haven’t had a chance to play it, but it’s supposed to basically be the first twenty minutes of the game. Like, they just cut out the first twenty minutes and threw it on the PSN. I haven’t had a chance to play it myself, but I’ve heard some peoples thoughts that it really does feel like a God of War clone and that the graphics could be better.  I’ll judge it for myself when I get a chance to play it. The game is coming out on February 9th, 2010 in the U.S. and February 12th, 2010 in Europe.

Ok i will start it off.
I am more excited about this game than God Of War 3. That doesn’t mean that GOW3 sucks, or that i hate it. I will be getting both, however i personally find the story and art direction (ie. environments) in Dante’s Inferno cater’s to my likes. The whole story is just so engrossing and really pulls you in. The way the levels are set up combined with the story from the Poem and how Visceral and EA’s Interpretation of the poem.
A man plagued of sins goes down to the dept’s of Hell to bring back the women he loves after she has killed herself, only to find his own righteousness and confront his sins in the process.
AMAZING!!!!!
Just look at EA did with Dead Space. There is no reason to expect anything less than a perfect story combined neatly into hack n slash game.

i swear this nothing more then a button masher. why did i bother downloading this crap. at first i thought i couldnt do the good ol evade dash but i hit the right analog and there it was. why cant action games have a fighting style street fighter or something.
I enjoyed it. It got me actually excited GOW3. It’s such a knock off it isnt funny, but thats not a bad thing. I love the CGI scenes, and I actually think I’m more interested in this story than GOW’s. The thing is that the in game graphics and gameplay arent nearly as good.
I played GOW for the first time back in June, and like it but wasnt blown away. I figured it was due to the fact that I played a 4 year old game. After playing a similar style game with current gen technology I’m much more excited for GOW3 then I already was. I see what you guys saw when the original GOW’s came out.
The one major thing that I think Dante’s Inferno will always have over GOW is the main character. Kratos is more badass, but he is still a dick. I feel like I am fighting as the biggest douche bag ever when I play as Kratos. What redeemable qualities does he have? At least Dante is somewhat likeable.
Either way Dante’s Inferno is a good game, but a rent. No reason to spend $60 on this with GOW3 coming in a month.
I agree with you. I felt like i was playing GOW, it’s a great demo and not necessarily a bad thing to feel like GOW. The art direction is top notch i must say, the story however is something i will closely monitor just to see how closely it sticks to the original poems. Come’on going through hell to save a women who basically committed suicide…. A bit of a stretch.
What i disagree with you is on Kratos, if you followed the story of him and all the bonus videos on GOW 1 & 2 you would see the reasoning behind the man that is kratos. He was a spartan, i think a captain or general i know he was leading an army. Back then simplistic goals like conquering was all a man needed for ambition. He requested the help of Ares in order to win a battle and then started serving Ares. He continues conquering and following Ares orders until he was tricked by him and mistakenly killed his wife and child. From there forth his disregard for the gods began. Now if that’s not a reason to go badass i don’t know what is. The story of GOW is very detailed that it’s not even funny, mostly because it’s based upon mythology that is already established. Because people fell in love with the gameplay they forget the story i think. Seriously Athena telling the story voiced by Carole Ruggier is just awesome. She’s the same person who narrated Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm, LOTR Two Towers (Eowyn) and i don’t remember the character name but she was also in one of my favorite XBOX games of all time Crimson Skies!!!!

well the producers said this was the last GOW game so i guess we’r stuck with dante’s inferno for a while.
You guys only have half a brain or are just blind and don’t understnad game mechanics, I first hated on it because of the GOW wanna be thingy , but decided to be fair and try it last night , WTF is this he ruuns like he has a stick up his ass ?? Besides the button mapping is nothing like god of war its way more like Devil may cry than god of war y’all either xbox guys who never had the pleasure of experiencing the gow series or are just flame baiting,this is nothing like GOW the main enemies are porly rendered .. the graphics left me wondering why god had punished me for my sins by hurting my eyes …I am dissapointed , its saving grace is the story it seems very interesting a bit cliche but what isn’t nowdays..and the nudity is very tastefull also, not used just for for the sake of it. the CG is nice but is misleading because the games graphics are borderline gow2 hd remastered ,its a shame ill skip on it. Because I know the Ps3 and 360 can do much better than this . I’m sadden because I came in hoping to be pleased with it ,had potential…and is nowhere in the same glaxy as gow why are people comparing these 2 games. Stop it
