As someone who has played Tekken 6 more hours than he’s slept since it’s release date, I can more than point out all that’s wrong with the game. The biggest being the lag. I have played ranked matches that have literally been in slow motion from start to finish. Until one has mastered precision button presses and really gotten used to the lag they have very little chance of winning. I’ve even played some player matches where my opponents’ only goal is to practice a specific move to learn lag timing. It’s disappointing when a really good match is reduced to doing whatever it takes to win because of lag. Characters with guaranteed juggles off of a low attack have such a distinct advantage online due to lag and the properties and priority of their moves. Bryan’s guaranteed off of df+3 can get really annoying at times and people spamming Kazuya’s triple spin kicks isn’t any better. It’s because of this that learning to low parry is mandatory. Low parrying isn’t going to amount to anything without the right follow up. It still amazes me how a game can be a lot fun offline and quite frustrating at times once you take it online. Until the patch is released I suggest hosting some player matches and inviting friends with really good connections.
Anyone who has played Tekken 5 DR extensively knows that T6 is lacking a few features. I really can’t understand why the developers would take away some of the best local play additions. I miss being able to copy my customization data to a portable device and using it in versus mode when playing my brother or going to play at a friends’ house. For people who don’t have time to game online or just prefer to play offline, it sucks that there is a ranking cap offline. With ranking up being the hassle that is it would have been nice if NamcoBandai made public the requirements for reaching the next rank. Being forced the play online isn’t fair when lag is the huge problem that it is. The lag is so bad that I couldn’t recommend this game to anyone other than a dedicated Tekken fan. Especially when Super SFIV and the new Blazblue are coming next year. NamcoBandai could have avoided this problem if they’d kept offline and online profiles separate.
The Scenario Campaign was supposed to be a mode where you could go online and play with a friend, but sadly that’s not the case. I guess NamcoBandai forgot to include that option on the disc and are going to patch it in sometime this winter. With all of the press Tekken 6 got you’d think someone would have mentioned this beforehand. I guess it truly is all about the money.
Pre-Order DLC costume pack. I laugh everytime I think about it. If I was one who used profanity in my writing you’d see some right about now. It was a bit of a hassle actually getting the code I was promised so I could download Yoshimitsu’s 3rd costume. Thankfully I decided to check the Tekken forums on NamcoBandaigames.com. Once I contacted NamcoBandai directly I was able to resolve this issue, but even then I needed proof that I pre-ordered the game. Never in my life had I been so happy to have not deleted an e mail.
Character customizations vary in quality from character to character. I swear it’s like the dev team decided to take whatever customization item ideas they could find on the cutting room floor and stick them on the less popular characters. It’s bad when you’d rather just use the standard outfits and than even bother with customizing.
3 things that drive me crazy about Tekken 6 are the game always trying to auto upload ghosts and replay data while you’re in online mode, roulettes after the laggy online matches and the exclusion of being able to save 2P controller preferences.
Tekken 6 seems to not have a lot going for it, but I it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t mention that Tekken 6 is a deep fighter and more than little nice to look at. Being able to save replays is nice addition as well. Learning what moves are most effective and safe against specific characters can be quite challenging, but definitely rewarding in the long run. I have to be honest some characters are definitely on a higher tier than others. Even with all of the issues I have with Tekken 6 you’ll still find me playing online trying to rank up my Yoshi. Maybe I’m just a glutton for punishment. Here’s to hoping that the patch arrives sooner rather than later.

Good stuff snskid, You know I agree with every mother fucking thing u say about T6.
I’m glad we can play each other and have an enjoyable experience. I need to learn some new people. I’ll do random and see who I get.
Yeh you should brah, I would play other people but the ranking games lags just kills the fun for me so no point useing other ppl.
I’ve actually found that playing between 4pm and 5:30pm EST has the best window for pretty good connections. It’ll have to do until the patch is released.
Damn that sucks about the lag you experience while playing it online. Hopefully this will be a learning experience for their next endeavors with online fighting.
Hope is all there is at this point.
Nice read snskid
I was thinking of getting this game. I am totally rusty since i first played Tekken 1 up to Tekken 3. What version do you have and what is you PSN or Gamertag so that i can hit you up with a challenge.
