Good show guys, but what do you think about the guys at LoT and Eurogamer comparisons of MW 2? If your like me, I think it’s all bullshit because no one is ever going to play games like that. So i guess the games are not identical as the PS3 version had Lower FPS, Slower Load times, and Marginally better visuals on the 360. LoT have also stated that these are the settings of the game straight out of the box. If every game needs to be adjusted on your TV and PS3 settings just to match the 360 version that comes right out of the box, then right there is a lost sale as i don’t want to fiddle with my settings for every game.

So as we can see, which has been noted by 2 different sites, have said the same things. Not to mention ALL the articles around the internet, as well as Tor has stated, the PS3 online is broken.
Since both games cost the same $$$, the 360 is CLEARLY the better version for your $$$…again assuming that all things are equal like you are not a fanboy, and own both consoles.
on behalf of microsoft i would like to apologize for the lack of AAA exclusives this year. i understand why you feel the need to make your purchase of the 360 relevant. but using a multi platform game is a quite sad. i sure hope the drought will be over soon and maybe you can gloat about some good exclusives and not just sales. oh wait the trey won september and october….DAMN!
It’s amazing how much PS3 Fanboys get upset when they are slapped in the face with Facts. I guess because Sony fanboys are just used to making up their own opinions and saying that they are facts, and when actual facts come out, they seem to always dispute that of the Sony Fanboys….it truly is amazing.
Well since i own both a 360 and a PS3, i get to purchase the best quality game for either console. And since a consoles library consist of 90% multiplats and 10% exclusives, i would say that the multiplat library is MORE important than exclusives. This means i have more games to play that are the best versions for my hard earned $$$. But i guess in a case like yours MikeMadden where you are a PS3 fanboy and only own 1 console, 2-3 games a year is all you play, since you seem to think Multiplats are meaningless and you don’t care paying the same money for an inferior product. I’m sorry, you are probably still upset that you couldn’t log into a MW2 online match while those that owned the 360 version were enjoying it. Good thing that PSN is free, with all that money you spent on an inferior game. DAMN!

- How is Haze? Lair? But i bet you had a great time playing MW1, MW2, Resident Evil 5, Fallout 3 etc. No it is you that FAILS. Not every exclusive is a great game and since there are far fewer exclusives than multiplats that come out a year, that means even less great exclusives for that particular console. Just because a game is “exclusive” doesn’t mean a) that it is automatically a great game and b) doesn’t mean its a game that the masses are going to want.

If you don’t have a preference then why would you buy the version that is lower in FPS, or longer load times? You saying “Get the game on your preferred console” has no relevance here. If you have a “preference” than that is the system you will always buy your games for. Therefor, all things are not equal. A preference does not make your consoles equal, as you will more than likely buy a game regardless if for the same price you can buy the better performing version on the competitors console.

I got a question for Brain: If 30 people buy the PS3, Wii (MW reflex) and Xbox 360 version MW 2 how would that increase hardware sales, I believe that would increase software sales? I may be mistaken, I don’t pay attention to sells that much.

no I didn’t, but that’s not what brain said, he stated that he saw 10 people pick up that 360 version of game at the midnight launch, I don’t think that would increase the hardware sells, unless those 10 people pick up the 360 along with the game.
I increased it by one lol. Bought both the Prestige edition and Limited Edition. There were about 200 people at Gamestop just at the store near the base. Before I picked mine up while I was in line a good 20 people were walking out with Limited Editions. Majority of people were picking up 360 versions of the game. Right now they are saying the 360 version is outselling the PS3 version 2:1. I am sure we will find out come December when the NPD numbers come out.
did you buy another 360? i wonder how many 360 sales are re-ups. it has to something like 5-10 million. but if they sold like 8 million the first year, all those consoles are dead and out of warranty. so it might be more then 10 million.
Yes I bought another 360. I bought another PS3 when the slim came out. I have 4 360s now and 2 PS3s. I still have my original 2005 launch 360 that I still use today. I never experienced RROD or YLOD. No issues.

I think your question is a rhetorical question. But in the event that it’s not…HHG thinks that the PC gaming is going the way of the DoDo Bird. And to be honest, the numbers for the PC edition are rather disappointing but with everything that Activision is doing in regards to the PC owners, i can see why.
They essentially killed PC lan parties by botching dedicated servers. Do you realize that in order to attempt a LAN party with MW2 you HAVE to have an internet connection? Not only does that suck but it increases the chance of lag. Activision completely and certifiably stuck the middle finger to PC gamers. I’m sick of hearing bullshit from Kotick and the crap their pulling at activision. Yeah MW2 looks like a great game but as of now im avoiding it. I’ve got borderlands, Uncharted 2 and Demon Souls eating my time up now, anyway with Battlefield coming out soon. It’s just one less game i won’t be getting, im pretty sure the other millions of gamers are happy with it for now but im not supporting a CEO or company that is basically shafting a entire collection of gamers. Some of the largest clans in COD4 were on the PC nice way to thank’em…

the guy named the coach in L4D 2 looks alot more like Bob Sap to me; then Tor davis. I am not totally sure about what HHg was talking about but on gametrailers espiode 1 chapter 2 near the end. a guy from IW said that sony could of got a exclusive deal for CD2 before 360 has it on their system back in 2005. i do not think IW would of sat on CD2 for another year before releasing it for ps3.. i could check into it more but the point is for HHG to prove what he means and not me. i do not believe IW would sale off CD fanchise. Nor make it a real exclusive to either console in the past/near future.
MW2 is a 8.5 to 9.0. the red glue crap on the screen is bs. alot of times my grenades does not even blow up after i toss it in Sp. alot of times you are just “blind firing” through the game. i did not know if i killed the guy or my teammates did. i wish they had arcaded style points system to the game. this would make me feel like i actually did sometime beside “blind firing” through the game. the online portion of the game it empty. 12 player mp is bs; since their is absolutly nothing going on in the scenery. the last gen grenades effects and last gen 2d foilage and scenery. WTF the game is about see first shoot first. you have little chance to survive. i done renting this game. it is a must not buy for me…. i rented borderlands as well and it was pretty fun….

this is the realest review for the single player i seen on the internet. that blood on the screen makes the single player unplayable. if this game was named any other than call of duty or halo it would have got 7 or 8 scores.

You don’t get it…. It’s not about how the “average” fps rate on the 360 is 5 more than the PS3 it’s that like i said IF you play these games side by side the difference is virtually null. That’s why it comes down to preference. If you like how First person shooters are on the 360 controller buy MW2 on 360. If you have more friends on PSN and like the smaller DS3 controller keep that in mind when purchasing games like borderlands. All multiplat games have slight discrepancies some so small like the list you provided making the claim to be “clearly” better a null point. The real point is that if you can’t see a striking difference between the two versions than there is now clear superior version. All that other nonsense is Sherlock Holmes style digging. When you have to go out of your way to prove that something is slightly better the contest is already over.
I for one aren’t offended by your comments cause i can careless which version is clearly better, as long as the experience is the same and isn’t hindered. Cases where that matter was games like fallout 3 on PS3 it was very clear that if you had both consoles it would better to purchase it on 360 especially with the game being literally OVER when you end it on the PS3 and on the contrary with the 360 version.
You can always look at games like Tekken 6 which on the 360 has a higher resolution but when compared to the PS3 version on a lower res it’s actually better. In a situation like that you can actually say numbers lie….

Just got finished listening to the GoS. Interesting, interesting indeed. Let us know if you get blade on this week. Also yes they said that forza 3 has 10x as much polygons per car than in forza 2 BUT how many polygons did each car have in forza 2? Some speculate that each car had around 100,000 making the count in Forza 3 1m per. But Turn 10 was asked specifically about how many polygons why is that they couldn’t give a definitive answer. IGN asked that very question but got the 10x answer. I tried digging but couldn’t even find a straight sure fire answer on how many there was in part 2.
I understand your point. However, i am not the one doing the testing, i am doing the research. And you again are indicating “preferences”. You don’t seem to understand what i was saying. ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL, in other words NO PREFERENCES. This is not about the console the game is on. This is about the game. The 360 version runs better out of the box than the PS3 version out of the box. And out of the box, the versions are not similar as the PS3 version has had 4!!! updates now due to the issues over the PSN. Come on. For the same price, the 360 version is by FAR less of a hassel than the PS3 version. It’s like you just don’t want to admit that given all things equal, for the same price, the 360 is the better version.
You keep bring up things that have nothing to do with this. Features don’t matter, controllers don’t matter, friends lists don’t matter….IF YOU HAVE NO PREFERENCES then for the same money, you could by the 360 and right out of the box, not have to adjust your TV settings, not have to adjust your console settings, were able to play online right away, shorter load times, and a better FPS (which is between 5-8 FPS).
Please stop with your argument because you keep going back to preferences and for the 3rd time now have advised you that IF all things being equal, and you were not a fanboy of a particular console and or HAD NO PREFERENCE to a particular console, then NO the games are not equal as there is CLEARLY differences between the 2.
Look at it like this. You are buying a car. There are 2 cars that are EXACTLY the same and are the same price. However, 1 of the cars is a bit slower, needs more maintenance, has a chip in the paint on the hood. Regardless of what your friends are driving, or what color they prefer, the car with the least amount of issues is going to be the better car since they are priced the same. Even though the issues with the 2nd car are minimal with almost no way of seeing the flaws.

You seem to NOT understand that just because the FPS is a little higher on average it DOESN’T make the version BETTER. Just because the load times between the two are “SLIGHTLY” different DOESN’T not make a version BETTER. Did you even read their article? They interjected personal preference in their own analysis. They gave the nod to 360 on graphics because of “softened” shadows and glare that is hardly ever noticeable and doesn’t make the overall appearance better, that’s all personal preference. Now you tell me if both games are running at 720p and average between 30 and 60 fps with no screen tearing WHICH is THE CLEARLY BETTER VERSION? Both version support the same exact texture quality are you just ignoring that? Multi-console owners who go and look for analysis from LoT and seriously factor a game like MW2 and the comparison is blind. Blind to see that like you said all things considered and equal the differences don’t BEND either way. There are advantages that LoT didn’t factor is that the 360 version presents an overexposed image which are when you show blown out whites and blacks.
So why don’t you go check out your website again that you go to in order to make a muliti-console video game purchase based off of their analysis.

First, the 5 seconds on average that separate the 360 version from the PS3 version in what way makes the game better? A simple question right. It doesn’t, both run smooth with no apparent screen tearing or other graphically impaired effects. You used a car analogy before so here’s one. Two identical cars present themselves to you with the same exact features down to the exception that ones top speed is 140 and the other is 150. Both go from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds btw. Does the extra 10mph make that second car better? What your failing to understand is that the slightly better averaged fps on the 360 version doesn’t accelerate or enhance that version any more over the PS3’s. It’s not defending it’s called the truth. Your reaching, so much so that you don’t even understand what your reading. Have you properly read the LoT article you would have understood what their talking about with the color issue. It’s not that you have to adjust the color to get them to match with the other version it’s that IF you do adjust the color the images are identical. No one is going to go that hard to get an equal image as far as colors go. Scratch that some might, i wouldn’t.
I’m not going to respond to the silly fanboy banter and the other statement you made it’s just not worth my time. About the PSN issues, those weren’t game specific that was an issue between funding from activision, infinity ward and Demonware regarding servers and their capacity. Hey here’s a quote from Bowling himself on that “It’s a server overload not a bug in the code, They’re working to have servers back up ASAP.” While i can see that being an issue for gamers who have purchased the game already and for those who haven’t yet and keep that into consideration.
You want to speak about patching? Patching had nothing to do with the game being a clearly superior version. Yes it has patching and just how is that a bad thing? I’m sorry your logic doesn’t come through on that on, the whole not being able to play online is one that would be acceptable. The patches, not so much. Patching in the history of gaming has always been an accepted and welcomed feature trying to add it as a con is silly.
You clearly missed the Tekken 6 link and didn’t read the article. What you foresee as better isn’t better. A higher frame per second doesn’t make it better unless it inadvertently effects game play positively or negatively. A higher output resolution doesn’t relate to better unless whatever it’s being compared to at lower resolution don’t match or exceed the quality. Get it? So again Wrong Sir, Wrong. 56fps isn’t necessarily better than 50fps. It’s just a higher number of frames per second. I wasn’t going to respond but i see you don’t get it. You obviously have an agenda to push. Otherwise like every other coherent discussion or debate you’d understand what I’m saying.
Better: something superior in quality
Now again if you can’t answer the question than this really is over. What is superior in terms of quality with the 360 version of MW2? Does each of those points LoT stated theoretically or otherwise make that version superior? How does the framerate make the 360 version better? If you can answer with facts rather than opinion than come back otherwise don’t answer at all. I will be ignoring anything other than a direct response.
It’s sad that real base of this whole entire discussion is around an 8 second load difference on average and 5 frames per second on average. Really sad that the structure couldn’t be a little bit more substantial than that. I don’t even have this game at that.

Tor, GT5 is gonna sporting 400k polygons per car of course not all models will be the same similar to Forza 3 where some are more or less.
I happen to find a direct interview to clear this polygon mess up straight from Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi:
What is a major difference in the detail level of the cars from GT4?
“There are 400,000 polygons per car, 100 times more than were present on GT4. GT4 had 4,000 polygons per car. You can customize and tune the cars, too”
Now in here’s what was quoted in an Forza 3 interview:
“You’re going from 300-polygon cars to 300,000-polygon cars,” Laverty pointed out.
“These games have 10 times the polygons as FM2, four times the texture and four times the resolution,” said Wendl.
