    Good Videcle. Two problems one if they got the exclusivity i believe it would be like a 6months – a year window given how good Microsoft is doing. My other problem is with YOU HAVING JFK IN YOUR FUCKING BACKYARD!!! DAMN I THOUGHT THE PLANE WAS GOING TO LAND IN YOUR HOUSE. LOL

    Soo yeah I’m going to touch on a few points…

    1. I remember hearing about how Call of Duty could have been a Playstation exclusive. Either it was for the original or COD2 which ended up being exclusive on the Xbox. I forget all the details, but this for sure wasnt after COD2. First off, Infinity Ward can’t go to Sony and say “You want to make this exclusive?” since they were with Activision. Now maybe Activision threw a offer out there and Sony declined, or Infinity Ward went to Sony first before going to Acitivision with the first Call of Duty.

    Anyway this all had to happen before COD2’s launch. The reason being that I dont see a chance in hell Acitivison offers Sony exclusivity on this franchise after COD2 which was a 360 exclusive. Also, this would only be for console exclusivity because there will always be a COD on PC.

    You cant blame Sony for turning it down. No one knew Modern Warfare would take the game from Top 20 title “namewise” to possibly the biggest franchise in gaming today. I mean, Microsoft lucked out when they got Halo from Apple and ended up getting a Top 5 franchise.

    Sony has their first party teams with franchises like God of War, Gran Turismo, etc… They shouldnt need to buy exclusives from 3rd party developers.

    2. Sony made a mistake by not throwing down the money to keep their 3rd party exclsuives, specifically Grand Theft Auto and Final Fantasy, and not the fact they didnt buy more exclusives. If they maintain those two titles then sales wise they have two titles that can compete with Halo in name and sales. They needed to maintain their position this generation and not over extend themselves. They were launching a $600 console, and taking a big risk so it isnt the best time to start buying new franchises.

    3. Hindsight is 20/20. No one and I mean NOOOOOOO one thought COD would become this big. If someone went to Sony and said “I got a game that will sell 15 million guarentee and Kill Halo” then Sony would have been all over it, but when you bring a “World War II shooter” I dont think Kaz Hirai and PHil Harrison were going to pull out their checkbooks.

    4. It doesnt even fucking matter. Hell more games should be multiplat and not the other way around. Let more people enjoy the game. I’m happy Sony didnt get it as an exclusive because it wouldnt benefit anyone besides Sony execs.

    5. I liked the sparkle background effect. Seems classier now.

    6. Last but not least… If COD was exclusive today the franchise wouldnt be nearly as big. It would be big but not as big. Sony would be in a much better position, and it would sell like crazy but it would only be equal to Halo. With the game being multiplat it has surpassed Halo. Also, if PS3 owners want COD to be their Halo killer so bad then they already got it. It’s called Modern Warfare 2 and it is on their system right now. It’s a better game and a more popular game and its on the Ps3. The only people who want a “Halo Killer” exclusive for the Ps3 are fanboys.

    HAD TO REGISTER TO SPEAK ON THIS :) . HOPE EVERYONE TAKES THE TIME TO READ IT.

    1.) ACTIVISION OWNS INFINITY WARD AND THE CALL OF DUTY FRANCHISE. THEY ACQUIRED THEM IN 2003. IT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR SONY TO HAVE SECURED IT AS AN EXCLUSIVE. ACTIVISION IS ALL ABOUT MAXIMIZING PROFITS. NEVER WOULD IT HAVE BEEN EXCLUSIVE, EVEN IF MICROSOFT PAID HANDSOMELY. MAYBE FOR PC/360. BUT… THAT ISN’T EXCLUSIVE EITHER.

    IN ADDITION, I’M SURE SONY FELT THEY WERE BETTER OFF STICKING TO THEIR GUNS: 1ST PARTY. THE INSANE SUCCESS OF COD4 COULD NEVER HAVE BEEN PREDICTED.

    AND EVEN IF THE DEAL BETWEEN ACTIVISION AND SONY WAS REAL, THERE’S ANOTHER REASON SONY DIDN’T WANT TO PAY. THEY HAD A $600 MARKET PRICE CONSOLE COMING… WITH AN $800 MANUFACTURING COST.

    ================================================

    2.) A SONY CONSOLE NEVER NEEDED A “HALO-TYPE GAME”. IF YOU RECALL CORRECTLY, IT WAS MICROSOFT BACK IN 2002 THAT NEEDED A “GRAN TURISMO-TYPE GAME”. GRAN TURISMO IS SONY’S MAIN KILLER APP. AS A SERIES IT HAS SOLD OVER 50 MILLION UNITS WORLDWIDE. GRAN TURSIMO 5 PROLOGUE SOLD 4 MILLION WITH AN EXPENSIVE ASS PS3 CONSOLE ON THE MARKET.

    THE TALK OF A “HALO-KILLER” NEEDS TO STOP. PLEASE. SALES TALK IS BECOMING TIRESOME AT THIS POINT. BUT I DO SEE WHY PEOPLE CONTINUE TO BRING IT UP.

    ================================================

    3.) SONY’S EGO… MAYBE BACK IN 2005-2006 YOU COULD CRITICIZE THEM FOR SUCH A THING. THEY’VE DONE AN ENTIRE 180 IN THAT REGARD. THEY’VE SUPPORTED THE PSN COMMUNITY GREATLY AND ARE NOW HUMBLED FROM THEIR SLIGHT ARROGANCE DURING THE LAUNCH OF PS3 (IF THAT’S WHAT YOU WANT TO CALL IT).

    FRANKLY, I’M HAVING A HARD TIME FIGURING OUT HOW THEIR “EGO” HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH ACQUIRING CALL OF DUTY. WERE THEY CONFIDENT? SURE! THEY HAVE FAITH IN THEIR 1ST AND 2ND PARTY INVESTMENTS. WHAT COMPANY OF THAT MAGNITUDE WOULDN’T? INSTEAD OF PATCHING THE PROBLEM BY THROWING MONEY AT 3RD PARTIES (A TEMPORARY SOLUTION), WHY NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM BY THROWING MONEY AT YOUR IN HOUSE STUDIOS? SONY HAS DONE JUST THAT.

    ================================================

    4.) NOW, IF YOU WILL, LETS JUST PLAY THE GAMES. GREAT MULTIPLATS, AND ARGUABLY THE BEST 1ST PARTY EXCLUSIVES PROVIDED BY SONY.

    ================================================

    5.) I HAVE MODERN WARFARE 2 ON 360. GREAT GAME! SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN IS MEH, BUT MULTIPLAYER IS BETTER THAN COD4 IN MY OPINION :) .

  • TrealSince says:

    ALSO… CALL OF DUTY 2 WAS CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE FOR 360 BECAUSE THE PS3 WASN’T OUT ON THE MARKET :) .

    MANY EARLY 360 EXCLUSIVES WERE EXCLUSIVE BECAUSE OF THIS AS WELL: GRAW, RAINBOW SIX VEGAS, DEAD RISING, ETERNAL SONATA, LOST PLANET ETC. ALL OF WHICH HAVE HAD PORTS TO THE PS3 (ONCE IT RELEASED) OR SEQUELS BEING DEVELOPED FOR BOTH PS3/360 AT A LATER DATE.

    KUDOS TO MS FOR LAUNCHING EARLY FOR THE HEAD START BTW! EVEN THOUGH THEY SIMULTANEOUSLY DROPPED SUPPORT FORM THE ORIGINAL XBOX, A CONSOLE THAT I LOVED (OFF TOPIC).

    HHG’s ego cost him a TV show on Spike

  • MikeT says:

    look forward to the MW2 Xbox giveaway.

  • MikeT says:

    What happened with Spike TV btw?

  • Activision never offered Sony this deal as far as I know. I’ve searched all over for it and can’t find it. How could they offer them exclusivity when they are already on PC and 360 before the PS3 came out?

    • DamonTheMoney says:

      Yeah, I’ve been wondering where HipHop got this information from. He should really list his sources. He didn’t even give a time frame as to when this happened, leaving us completely in the dark.

      Sounds like a bullshit article for website hits to me.

    • MikeT says:

      Yeah, that’s why I didn’t even touch that subject. I don’t understand why COD a PC franchise originally would all of a sudden become a PS3 exclusive.

  • hiphopgamer says:

    @tdavis was up dog check it out just like how splinter cell was on ps3 and 360 and now currently it’s only on 360 it’s not like that couldn’t happen. In business and especially this generation we’ve learned that anything can happen.

    This paticular interview i’m referring too as the source was done shortly after call of duty 4 came out and that’s when it was mentioned about infinity ward going to sony to have an exclusive opportunity for call of duty.

    I’ve searched around for it too, if i’m not mistaken i believe it was a gamespot interview but it’s wierd i couldn’t find it either but for those who feel I made this up ya’ll can kiss my ass and soon you really gonna kiss my ass, I have a few things up my sleeve well anyway peace

  • hiphopgamer says:

    I wasn’t even the HipHopGamer when the game came out because my show didn’t start until december 16th of ‘07 call of duty came out a month before that but yeah man i know what I heard and saw but anyway 1luv yo peace

  • OOG says:

    I will back up hiphop and say I do remember some site or something mentioning that cod mw was offered to the ps3 way back when… i just cant remember where I read/heard it hmm

  • mboojigga says:

    So basically what you are telling is you made a video about a game in 07 with basically no source or information and you are flying by the seat of your pants and this is relavent or important why? You do realize the PS3 didn’t have a worldwide launch at the time VS the 360 being available worldwide. The big launches were between 11 Nov 06 Japan to March 07 for Europe. Why would Activision or Infinity think it would be good business to make the COD MW exclusive when they just had COD 2 that was launched on the 360 in 06 sell a million copies? They as a company were seeing what everyone else was seeing in 2006-07. Attach rates, console sales and the issue of development for the PS3. Seeing that you have no information and you are just going by some sort of memory about somthing no one else has ever heard major site like IGN or consumer I find it hard to believe this was entertained as an option.

  • Khalid N says:

    Sony would still be in the same position regardless of having MW as an exclusive or not. Killzone 2 proves my point.

    This MW exclusivity deal was a rumor and nothing more. It’s similar to the 50 million GTA dlc rumor.
