I laugh when I hear, or read stuff like this. Just for the simple fact that this is how gaming has gone down in history. Development techniques always get better. Also folks need to keep in mind that the technology in both the PS3 and Xbox 360 is fairly new. Nothing like them have been seen in home consoles. So to think that either system is tapped out in any capacity is moronic, uninformed, and just plain careless.

Let's keep in mind that both systems have different features technically that give them unique abilities. If most of what HHG is claiming to be true, (Actually I for a fact know that hes right) then yes the Xbox 360 is set to sail. Microsoft on the low always had planned for the hdd to hit critical mass for usage. They just wanted to offer the best price possible for the Xbox 360. This is why the Arcade unit was introduced.

Now in terms of the graphics, the most important aspect to keep in mind with the new X-Engine tool set is that it indeed offers developers more meat and potatoes ability to get into the Xbox 360 hardware. Remember for those that don't know the X-Engine is built on XNA aspects. If you know anything about XNA then you should be paying attention to developments on that side of the fence. What will benefit the most from the X-Engine, HDD optimization is the 10 mega bits of ram that is on the Xneos gpu. We already know that it's a powerful, and well belt gpu. Wait till you see what they can do now that they are managing better resources. It's better than what folks think. Again this isn't about which system is better, it's about using the system to its full potential. The Xbox 360 has tons of it. There is no doubt about it.

Another thing. The only game that I respect in terms of being visually mind blowing is Uncharted 2. The reason being the amount of development time it has had to upgrade over the original. Killzone 2 yes is great looking, but due to the amount of development time, and resources put in. I give the game an asterik in graphics. No console game has had that much put into it outside of MGS4. See the Xbox 360 never had to prove if it was technically superior, because Microsoft never made the claim the system was the most powerful. So and we have seen how many games have surpassed the PS3 titles in quality, I don't see why it can't still. Then people throw in exclusives as a true benchmark of a system. Yes for the most part that is true, but heres the problem with that logic. It still does not mean those PS3 exclusives can't be done on the Xbox 360, and be better. Developers who say that they can't are being slick. Reading into any of those comments means, "we've taken advantage of the systems best qualities". They are not saying they took advantage of the Xbox 360's best features. If they did I know you'd see an incredible game. Will it ever happen no. So for now let's just go by the exclusives we have seen on the Xbox 360. Simple question...Have we been impressed by them? Answer...Yes, and they perform on every level. How many awards did Gears of War 1 take home? Exactly...Remember this whole generation the PS3 has been the system that has had to keep up with it's claims. Starting with the Killzone 2 demo back in 2005.

The Xbox 360 to haters, and fanboys has something to prove. Yet the reality of its success says no. Do I think Halo Reach will look phenomenal? No...I know it will, along with other titles. Just pay attention to how this generation has gone overall, and who's had to play catch up.

The case for people who lust the PS3 has been "What if the PS3 gets all the features that the Xbox 360 has. Don't you think it will be better than it?" That question alone says literally the Xbox 360 is the better console. Why? Because the PS3 lacks features that make it equal to the Xbox 360. If you sit back for a second you can hear people argue with themselves, and answer their own questions. It's hilarity in action.

The worst part, is the PS2 was the perfect example of not being a powerful system compared to its rivals, but putting out some of the best gaming content in history of gaming. So if you are stuck on graphics then you in my opinion are not a gamer. You are a gawker...Huge difference.

Graphics is the first thing YOU like to first see and focus on more than anything else. This is nothing new that we have been saying about the overall package to at the end of the day is the game fun to me? You have made videos to articles focusing strictly on the graphics and measuring some of the most played games out there on that alone. That is the point we are saying to you.

Your vampire rain comparison is basically what we have been saying. If it plays great but doesn't look as graphically as well as somthing like Halo 3 to Killzone 2(even though it took 5 years to make the game) I still play Halo 3 in addition have been entrenched in the world that is Halo is why I like it more than the Killzone series because of what all Halo offers(like co-op) that I wish Killzone 2 had which would have given it longivity for ME to continue playing.

YO WAS UP

1. I have tons of games and all of them aren't the best graphically and yes gameplay is more important but the truth is graphics enhances the gameplay, and graphics makes you see things you couldn't see clearly or as detailed before therefore making your gameplay experience that much better. I can play mario bros over and over again, shit i play mike tyson punch out all the time on my own site even though I own fight night 4. it's all about fun but graphics is the first thing you see which is the first thing we talk people. In truth I am a graphics whore lol but in reality if the game doesn't play really well kinda like resident evil 5, the graphics still holds my attention. Theres one exception though, if a game looks great but plays like vampire rain the fuck that game

Exactly. Currently I'm playing Dragon Age: Origins on the 360 due and it's in no way a graphical stunner but it does have a very nice subtle beauty to it. Enough to wrap you up in this massive world that BioWare has created. It's a game that I find myself losing how many hours I've playing. The combat is fun, the voice action is spectacular and the characters all have their own agendas and back stories. It is an amazing game! It sure as hell isn't going to be winning any awards in the looks department but it has it where it really counts... the gameplay and world.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to be wow'ed by a game but honestly in the thick of combat in say Gears II or Killzone 2, are you trying to kill your enemies or look at some wicked looking texture over off to the side? If you are then damn you have a problem.

He still won't understand after your comment. I sent the man a direct link and he will argue to death and simply does not understand the concept that his EDTV can recieve but not display HD. When you have facts to read and you simply ignore it because you "think" you are right it makes you wonder.

As far as Reach, man I cannot wait. What some people don't get is that Halo is popular because of the multiplayer, single player, novels, upcoming animes. Half Life made a splash when it came out on PC and had nothing like what Halo does. Graphics have been argued, gameplay has been compared and yet it continues to be the most played game on Live. No other FPS before has had the impact that Halo has brought until November 10 when MW2 releases and you will have 2 games that continue to simply bring what the fan base wants with these games and that is enjoyment. Killzone 2, brought enjoyment. Not like Halo and COD. Got to respect Infinity, Treyarch and Bungie in this respect. It never was about graphics. That is just an extra cherry on top. I personally care about the story and multiplayer and graphics for any game comes last. I don't need any developer to top another regardless on what system a game releases. I just need it to take the time I have with it and realize 2 hours has passed. It sure as hell wasn't because I stood in the middle of the road admiring the fire coming a from a burnt out building and oohing and aaahing. If that is what people spend more of their time with simply bragging about graphics then that is a waste of money to me. I don't need any game to look like Killzone 2 except Killzone 2. That is the great thing about variety.

I have a feeling that when it's all said and done, REACH will be one of the best looking and most highly played games on the 360. It looks like they are messing with the MP adding squads and perhaps 5 player squad co-op play in single player which can translate to some BATTLEFIELD like combat modes in MP.

These are very early screens, I don't know why everyone is flipping their wig over it. Already what IS THERE is showing that the level of detail in weapons is going to be a mass improvement from Halo 3. They are using a new engine and are going with mo-cap animation similar to Uncharted and Killzone 2. Hell, they even hired some people from Naughty Dog, one of them being one of the texture engineers from Uncharted 1. Certainly the game is going to look vastly better.

But Halo has always been about awesome gameplay in SP and an addicting MP. I get the feeling that with Halo REACH, Bungie is going a darker more serious route which was hinted at in ODST. Bungie's artists are amazing and with a proper engine in place, my mind spins at thinking what is going to be possible for REACH. I also want to say HHG you really need to stop this crap with the sub-HD business. Tor is correct in what he's said when it comes to HD standards.

You do know that television sets do not display a 640p or 678p signal right? No matter what you are playing on the PS3 or 360 it will be outputted to your television in 480p, 720p or 1080p. Despite what the internal game is rendered at both consoles default to those outputs. So what you are seeing is a 720p image, whether it's slightly scaled or not really doesn't mean a damn thing, because you will never know what an image appeared like at its internal rendering image. Take CoD4 for instance. It is internally rendered at something lower than 720p but not matter what the output image is still be scaled by either the PS3 or 360 to 720p. You believe that you can tell the difference, but I simply cannot understand HOW, as you've never seen a game running in 640p. Unless you somehow have some sort of TV set that no one has ever heard of and was made just for you.

All I'm getting at is please stop this sub-HD blabbering, you come off as someone uninformed. I heard a couple of Warzones ago Torr tear into it and you still wouldn't understand what the man was trying to get across. Just so you know, last generation 480p was considered HD, it was for all intents and purposed ED, which is enhanced resolution but it was the first step up in HD image quality. 720p has become the standard but 1080i and 1080p and still great. Anything at 480p is NOW considered enhance and anything about is HD. In the end really, who gives a shit. The image your seeing at home on your HD TV is always going to be HD with the PS3 and 360.

Great Job HH, Really liked the VIDicle. Keep polishing it baby. There getting better every time. Now back to my comments. You hit some really good points. I was thinking along same lines about this also, but mine was speculation based on the information that I was getting over the web, til now. Check this out, What if the reason why the 360's line up is so light for the next couple of months is because the optimization and the X-Engine?
