Yep, you read it right! Playstation 3 owners should be jumping for joy as DICE is having a BFBC2 beta beginning November 19th! Here’s the official ink from EA:
Starting 19 November 2009, PS3 gamers will be able to experience the unprecedented action, destruction, vehicular warfare, squad play and open sandbox environments that only Battlefield can deliver.
The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer beta will feature the Arica Harbour map, where up to 24 players can compete in one of the game’s four intense multiplayer modes called Rush. This new map displays a superb balance of vehicle and infantry combat, as the American assault unit attacks the Russian army base with full force, advancing further through a beautiful desert town and towards the industrial area in a desperate attempt to overtake the Arica Harbour. Heavy vehicle warfare on the first bases gradually turns into an intense infantry fight as the level progresses, showcasing this best-in-class online war experience.
Gamers can get a taste of this incredibly intense action by a numbers of ways including reserving the game with participating retailers. While supplies last.
How do I get a Beta Key?
For North America – Starting 10 November, participating GameStop locations and Gamestop.com will offer a PS3 beta keys to customers who reserve the game, while supplies last. Beta keys will be available for both online and in-store customers. So reserve your copy now!

Not a PS3 Owner?
Coming December, we will invite players to participate in a PC open beta. Then, early next year, all players worldwide will get to experience this premier shooter when we releases a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer DEMO on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be available on March 2, 2010 in North America and March 5, 2010 in Europe for the Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC.

Damn shame it’s a PS3 only beta, but hopefully this will iron out any kinks on the PS3’s MP side before launch. Still nice to know a MP demo is coming as well next year. This perhaps a good thing as that gives me time to focus on Dragon Age and Assassin’s Creed 2.

If you are wondering why this is PS3 only just think for a moment. Xbox Live is rock solid. This beta isn’t for our entertainment, it’s to test out the servers. PS3 getting a beta is a GREAT thing. This means that there should be parity across all systems come March 2nd.

I pacifically remember you playing the 360 version of the first bad company on your Davis weekly on get pwned. And from what i saw of what you played, it looked far from rock solid. It look like the game was lagging all over the place. I remember you were getting annoyed because there was so much lag and you kept dieing because of it. then you said “and this is why i don’t play this game”.
I’m not saying the 360 severs on live are horrible or anything like that because the PS3 version was probability just as bad. All im saying is why the fuck does a Multibillion dollar company like EA doesn’t use dedicated severs for their console games. Fuck p2p severs man, I would still be playing rainbow six vegas 2 if it wasn’t for the god damn lag.

No one tore me anything. There’s nothing to argue about. You have to be a fucking idiot to not understand what I meant by “360 is rock solid”. EA owns their own live servers. PS3 and PC games that aren’t games for windows have to be coded from scratch. That means the netcode is different every time. Sony has not provided devs with an online api like Microsoft has. Beta testing is needed for these more open platforms. But I guess I’m just an xbot that doesn’t know what I’m talking about.

BTW, about the 1:1 pixel mapping thing, i was wrong about that, it turns out that i was overlooking the fact that when in 1:1 mode, my monitor shows my ps3 to be running at some sub-1080p resolution when in menu mode, perhaps it’s that gay 1440×1080 resolution, consequently, all of my 720p games seem to be running lower than their native resolutions, i’ll look into this at some point when i get some time off from campus.

that is entirely possible. sony also set up an exclusive marketing deal with ubisoft for ac2. Sony realizes that ms has mw2 on lock so they did the next best thing and go after a game that ppl seem amazed by. Will be intresting to see if something gets leaked from someone because majority of sony stuff does.

i agree lazy boy i never had a problem with the first ones servers no dropping of lag. glad to know that the games gona have dedicated servers tho, wont lag like crazy when you have more than 16 people like halo3 for example.
