WET is a video game created by Artificial Mind and Movement, and published by Bethesda Softworks. In WET, you play as Rubi Malone. Rubi is a female gun for hire. She is acrobatic and she not only uses pistols, but she can dual whiled shotguns and sub machine guns and crossbows. Finally to rid Rubi of any enemies close by, she can use her katana to slice through any lackey that gets in her way. Now Rubi’s story in WET starts off on a mission to steal and deliver a human heart to Trevor Ackers. And after this first mission you will see what drives Rubi down the long road to revenge.
The graphics in WET are nothing to get excited about. Now, I will say that the art style in the game is very attractive at first, but after several hours of gameplay, the art style becomes stale and loses its flair. Along with the graphics other parts of the game just fall short of being well done. One of those things is the tutorial the game gives you, that you must complete before move on with your missions. Basically you are in Rubi’s home…or junk yard, I am pretty sure they are the same thing. Anyway you are set up, to run around the yard while learning how to shoot and maneuver around the world. Now what I didn’t like about the tutorial, is that for one thing its mandatory from what I know. And I just want to play the story I don’t want to have to do a mandatory tutorial that really doesn’t show me how to do anything I didn’t already know. And the other thing I didn’t like about it was that the thing is timed. Yes you have to do it in a certain amount of time. And if you end up not finishing in the amount of time it has set, you will become frustrated because it really doesn’t do anything.
Now I will tell you about the gameplay in WET. The gameplay in WET is a simple equation, run + jump + bullet time + shooting = kills. And you will use this equation all game long. Now in all seriousness, during your time with wet all you will do is run around and either shoot or cut people. You will have some parts in the game where you will have to do some wall running and jumping, and you will have to run along walls like in the Prince of Persia series. Now saying this you will also come across some sections of the game that have quick time events. These are not hard because of the amount of time you get to press the button, but sometimes these events come out of the blue and it can cost you. Now one thing WET loves to make you do is, place you into a big area and have spawn points for multiple bad guys. Now your objective in these parts is to find where the enemies are spawning from, (the spawn points are the doors or area that have a skull on them) and slash at the skull to close the door, thus stopping the spawning of your enemies. Now you will do this exact thing multiple times in one level and it gets old…really old quick.
Now after everything that I just told you. This game isn’t bad. It just loses its luster quick and never picks it back up. If you want a game to run through and nothing else just mindless killing then you could do worse then WET. But if your looking for more then that, you might want to pass on WET. If your still interested in the game please rent first, or play the games demo that is on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live because what you play on the demo is the whole game, the whole game is just longer.
