For many years, the PC community has always had the bragging rights on visual fidelity for the platforms video game back log. With the release of Crytek’s latest engine, console gamers will be one more step closer to achieving the same visual quality of some of PC’s greatest titles that in the past were never possible on a home console.
Now we all know that both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 have some serious graphical capabilities. That being said with the new CryEngine 3 graphics engine, console gamers will finally be at an almost identical visual experience when it comes to video games.
With out getting all technical or counting pixels and/or screen resolutions, if a title is released on all three platforms including the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC the graphics will be the same to the naked eye. To get right to it, that’s the bottom line, isn’t it?
Not to bust any bubbles here but PC games, no matter what engine is used will still be an edge above the consoles. The rigs out on the market are just far more superior for gaming (Visually) not necessarily gameplay. The downside for having the best of the best in visual superiority is that any fully loaded “monster rig” will run you more cash than any of the consoles on the market. Not everyone knows or even want to build their own Monster Rig for gaming. Some will argue that the cost for the best visuals do nothing for the gameplay but try and tell that to your local graphics whores.
I am a bit biased towards PC Gaming but I have to admit, I’m very excited to see this type of visual quality coming to the current consoles (excluding the Wii). Here are a few screens and the presser.
