If you just bought Risen for the PC and are getting this error you can work around it. Deep Silver has not issued a fix and it’s a damn shame because there are plenty of people who can’t play this game right now. To work around the bug, open the DVD in explorer and run the Autostarter. When the Autostarter loads, just click the ‘Play’ button. Again, Risen will not load from the start menu at all, you have to run it from the Autostarter. I hope this helps anyone out there that’s having the problem.

There have been some quirky bugs during testing with the Tages copy protection and some Toshiba drives. Customer support can provide a specially updated drive firmware, or more safely, have the version switched to a download version by providing an activation key.
