What is Evangelion: 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone? It’s the first of 4 movies retelling the Neon Genesis series with redrawn animation, added scenes, and re-recorded voices. The movie skips all the unecessary diaglogue and just cuts to the chase without skipping any of your favorite moments. It has a more serious tone than the original series had, but it’s a welcomed change because it’s executed so well. If you have a chance to see it in a theater before it’s Nov 17th (US) DVD release, you should definitely do so. I really enjoyed watching the film and was wowed into a starry-eyed state. If you’re a fan of Evangelion it’s a must see for sure.

Love Neon when i was told about this a while back i was skeptical but i couldn’t agree more that this was done fantastically. MY one original gripe with Neon was that it was short but this makes it short and sweet!
I think they are going to re-do the entire series. Evangelion 2.0 is already out in Japan theaters.
Neon Genesis was amazing but also dripping of symbolism… Some of the references in the series was crazy and I ended up reading up on pages and pages of stuff.
Great post, I hope it makes it’s way to Europe.
You definitely had to pay attention to detail when watching the series. I stil can’t say for certain that I got everything even after watching it numerous times. I really hope the live action film actually gets made at some point.
Yeah definitely took some re-watchin for me as well. I still have the DVDs picked it up years ago along with Hellsing complete series…
They’ve definitely released the Evangelion DVDs enough times. lol
I could never get into Hellsing for some reason. :/
First 6 episodes actually
. But yeah, Evangelion is my all-time favorite form of any fiction, of all the books I’ve read or movies and shows I’ve seen, Neon Genesis Evangelion is my absolute favorite. It’s playing in a theater 3 hours away on Sep. 30th, I’d love to see it in since so far I’ve only watched a subbed version on Veoh last year.
Thanks for the heads up. It had been awhile since I’d seen the series even though it’s one of my favorite anime series. I’m also a fan of Hell Girl, Fate/stay night, Serial Experiements LAIN, Shigurui Death Frenzy, Code Geass and Kaze no Stigma.
