Yesterday at the Deep Silver press event, HHG and I got into a huge debate about some statements he made concerning the death of PC gaming with the next generation of consoles. I told him that he was clearly wrong and consoles will never be upgradable. We got other people at the event into the debate and it got…interesting!
The world of gaming is beginning to evolve. With the increased popularity of online gaming, there have been many predictions the one day online gaming will exceed offline console and pc gaming in terms of quality and popularity. No longer is online gaming confined to blackjack or poker. Most of the world's best games can be played online!

PC Gaming to me is dead. It costs way to much money to get even an entry level gaming rig. When I bought my pc back a couple of years ago it killed me to drop 800 on it. Until games run on lower level system to fan base is never going to grow and will eventually become even more less covered in gaming news.
First off you don’t need to drop $800 on a system to play Crisis. You can play games on the PC just fine without playing at the highest level. You mean to tell me you enjoy Crysis on Very High less then on maximum? Seriously there have been articles and proven with benchmarks to show that you can build or buy a PC for $500 to achieve that. I swear people drop $500 on a PS3 but bitch about dropping that on a PC which you can do more with. You can’t edit Videos on a PS3/360 could you? The consoles are only good for one thing playing a game, a PC is an investment for not just a game but for so much more. Games are also generally cheaper on PC as well so in the long run your actually saving money. You got great deals to be had out there look at Steam… Pft. PC gaming expensive dudes need to do realize that gaming on a PC isn’t as expensive as it once was. Not all games out there require a QUAD-CORE CPU or Twin graphic cards running in SLI/Crossfire….

cuz i spent 800 building mah rig n it plays them perfectly on 1600…if u wanna game on pc..u should never buy a prebuilt system..always build it urself…u get way more performance

That was a very interesting discussion. Loved the way you guys kept it civilized and also when you involved the other people around you, that was great. Personally I have an older computer that wouldn’t play today’s AAA computer games (1A games either) but, that is not what I use my computer for at this time. Five years ago I did play on PC, but I’ve kind of fallen out of that loop. Now I am swaying more towards what Hiphopgamer was saying in that, I enjoy good games on Console for less money than a decent gaming rig. I will say this though, If i worked in a perfession that required me to have a computer with a good video card (video editing as Torrence said in the video), I would play CoD4 on the computer…and most other games that are on both platforms. If I had it I’d play it but, I don’t like to upgrade, unless its women, and that’s why I got out of PC gaming. Love the way Hiphopgamer wrapped up the segment with “I won” lol pewwwwwwwwwnnnnn.

As long as people need PC’s for everyday life…. then PC gaming will never die….. It might not be as popular as it used to be… but… also the way PC gaming is now has evolved…. there are flash games….free games… online gambling games….etc etc etc
But like I said as long as people need computers which we always will then gaming on the PC will not die….PC games might not be the owners main priority… but as long as they keep buying new computers with more power then PC gaming will always be an option and will always be around.
And like I said last Warzone and should be repeated to HH since he seems to not understand anything about computers…… There will be only sooo much that a console company could/would allow the general gaming community to upgrade in a console…. that being probably only the hard drive and the ability to add more ram…. Not like they will have people swapping out the most important parts of their computer aka CPU, Video Card, etc
So in reality would those new consoles really be called upgradable or just gimped causing us to pay more for the complete package? hmmmm HH hmmm?

I disagree with him, but personally consoles have replaced PC’s for gaming in my home. On a worldwide scale I don’t see that happening though. if you upgrade your console for one some people arnt gona do it because of no knowledge of how to do it or cheap. then games wont be playable on every console. plus pc has a lot of games that still sell. warcraft3 is 6 years old and still sells. total war games keep coming out so there selling. every blizard game basicly. i expect sc2 to be in the 4mil range. diablo3 about 2-3 mill.

I’m sorry Commander but your dumb when it come to computers. You bought a 800 $ HP laptop and are complaining it can’t run games. Thats like buying a car with no wheels and complaining that you can’t drive. Only laptops that are good for gaming are customs and they cost 1000 and more. You could get a 800 dollar PC from CyberPower PC and it will run games brilliantly!

This is why PC gaming will never die:
Some games just don’t work with a controller, RTS and MMO’s. Those two genres on the PC are huge because they work the best with a keyboard since you need to input so many commands.
FPS shooters on PC will appeal to people who are interested in playing with custom maps, custom game types and like the mice/keyboards.
Why Consoles will only have very LIMITED upgrades if they even choose to do that:
Console games are as strong as they are because it makes it easy on the developer to only worry about ONE type of hardware. Now if you go and put upgrades in a console, what does that look like it’s becoming… a PC! Consoles are successful because of the stationary hardware. It will NOT be cheaper to upgrade your console because the parts will have to be made specifically for your console which means it has to fit in the box and you have to worry about different cooling fans which will make more space thus not fitting in the box.

But you are saying since YOU don’t like it, PC gaming is going to die. Do you even know whats coming up around the corner? Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3! Those 2 games alone will push PC gaming and appeal to millions of people. Those games are meant to be played on PC, since I know you don’t like those games you just talk them down.
