CNET recently sat down for an interview with Microsoft emperor Bill Gates wherein he discussed his true hopes for Microsoft’s Project Natal. As it turns out, Natal might not just be limited to gaming. Here are some excerpts:
[The concept also works] for media consumption as a whole, and even if they connect it up to Windows PCs for interacting in terms of meetings, and collaboration, and communication…I think the value is as great for if you’re in the home, as you want to manage your movies, music, home system type stuff, it’s very cool there. …I think there’s incredible value as we use that in the office connected to a Windows PC. So Microsoft research and the product groups have a lot going on there, because you can use the cost reduction that will take place over the years to say, why shouldn’t that be in most office environments.
Media center innovations? Interactive conferences and powerpoints? Microsoft, making your life science fiction one step at a time.
What direction do you think Microsoft will take with it’s Natal technology?

Microsoft has a lot of stuff to do with Natal, I mean there is endless ideas for this smart Natal system. Imagine playing UFC with a friend besde you and the Natal camera captures all you’re moves into the game and actually fight for real and captures you’re hand when you tap out, that’s epic win!
a lawsuit in the making lol
lol how you gonna walk or run to your opponent in UFC? lol this natal system is weird… your basically telling me how i could play Gear 3 hiding behind my couch and shit and doing all this shit lol, “hey we can run”! how you might ask? “Why just do the running man”! lmao this natal thing is a joke and I dont think gamers are truly ready to let go of the controller and jus use their bodies… let alone US gamers might not even get into this shit cuz all we like is FPS and Action and hardcore stuff… this may only cater to the European market b/c their really open to this new stuff and they like it, but overall im not feelin Milo or any of this other bullshit concerning Natal.. Imma stick with my PS3 motion control instead lol that slaps the shit outta the Wii’s craptastic shit.
Walking: Just walk but don’t move forward (pretend that you’re walking whatever direction but move your legs as you walk in real life)
Running: Run but don’t go anywhere, just run in your posisition just like the Wii race where you gotta run and race other people by pretending that you’re actually running but you actually move you’re legs fast just like in real life
lol, I think it could work lmao (you need a good amount of space ofcourse if you have you’re 360 in your room with the bed beside you or your 360 is in your living room beside couches and tables…not a good idea lol)
I think they are going to try and milk Natal for all it is worth… I hope it works out… seems like a cool thing if done right.
imagine really getting into a fight with your friend while playing ufc with natal. you hit him in the lip while doing a spinning back fist… lmao msoft has alot of work ahead of them…. with natal.
If someone posts a video of it on youtube I will laugh my ass off
Motion Controls are not hardcore. I hope th ps motion contoller and natal both fail so we can get back to REAL GAMING.
“Motion Controls are not hardcore”
says who? you? i’m sure there are PC-only gamers out there that would say anybody that uses a gamer controller instead of a keyboard and mouse isn’t hardcore.
and how is realism not hardcore? so, if i can do an action with realistic movements that create much more of a sense of involvement, that’s not “hardcore?” shunning advancements in technology is “hardcore” to you?
it’s about the games that implement the motion controls, not the controls themselves. for example, Wii Sports isn’t hardcore not because of its motion controls, but because outside of its motion technology, it’s a cheaply made, eye-grabbing family-fun game.
if developers can use motion controls effectively in “hardcore” games, then i’m all for it. that’s a big if, though.
i tired of hearing about it
not coming out to next year so i could care less right now all talk
right now and its getting old fast
