IGN rules the innernets when it comes to game journalism. Of course I personally don’t like the site. I don’t like the fact that they are the defacto gaming site for most gamers. I don’t like the fact that the publishers cater to the IGNs and Kotakus but forget about the smaller community sites. We are a squirrel trying to get a nut here. There are certain obstacles that we can leap. IGN however, is a pain in our side. As long as they exist, we have to work harder. No biggie, I’ve accepted that. Today, however, the funniest thing occurred. I opened up my email and received a letter from a PR agency that is working for IGN. Not only are they working for them, but they are spamming my inbox with info about IGN’s E3 predictions. The Bitbag has it’s own E3 predictions so why in the fuck do I care what IGN thinks about E3?! IGN is are our competition so WHY IN THE FUCK WOULD WE CARE!?!?! They have infiltrated the nets like a virus. There’s no escape. I have to play harder now. I have to beat them at their own game to prove to the world that IGN isn’t the only place to get exclusive news and reviews. As long as they exist, I can’t rest.
For all those who are interested, here’s the email:

IGN.COM EDITORS REVEAL PREDICTIONS FOR THE 2009 E3 EXPO
Downloadable content, social gaming, price drops and new peripherals
expected to dominate headlines at this year’s showSAN FRANCISCO – MAY 18, 2009 – The expert editorial staff at IGN.com
(http://www.ign.com ), the leading online
videogames media outlet, today published its 2009 E3 Expo Predictions to
offer the gaming industry and consumers alike insight into what they
expect to be the big news at the industry’s premier trade show.
Returning to its original large-scale format following a two year
hiatus, the 2009 E3 Expo will take place June 2-4, 2009 at the Los
Angeles Convention Center.“With more than 150 collective years of covering the videogames space,
the IGN.com editorial team has incredible chops to make predictions
about what will happen at E3,” said Peer Schneider, Senior Vice
President of Content for IGN Entertainment. “Pulling from past company
announcements, rumors and their own inside knowledge, our editors are
going on the record for the first time to predict the most significant
news and trends from this year’s show.”Some of the most impactful predictions from IGN.com’s Editorial team
include:* Sony: Chris Roper, Editor-in-Chief, IGN PlayStation Team,
predicts that Sony will announce a new version of the PlayStation
Portable. The announcement of a price drop for the Sony PS3 console is
also expected.* Microsoft: IGN Xbox Team Editor-in-Chief Hilary Goldstein
predicts that Microsoft will finally pull back the curtain and reveal
the long-awaited blockbuster, Alan Wake, while also unveiling a new
motion sensor camera that will revolutionize the way videogame cameras
are used.* Nintendo: Matt Casamassina, Editor-in-Chief, IGN Nintendo Team,
expects the success of the Wii to be an overriding theme and predicts
announcements of classic game downloads for the DSi, as well as new
Mario, Pikmin and Zelda adventures. In addition, several key themes are expected to drive the conversation
at this year’s show, including:* Social Gaming on the Rise: The overwhelming success of games
like Guitar Hero and Rock Band has led to the emergence of gaming as a
social platform. Games that offer multiple forms of cooperative
gameplay will likely be a major theme as videogames move away from the
ultra-competitive, hardcore mindset of the past towards a friendlier,
group-oriented design that encourages hanging out and having fun over
achieving the highest score.* Digital Download Overload: With the economy causing many
gamers to tighten their belt straps and game reselling becoming a
growing issue for publishers, the rise of downloadable content will be a
hot topic.* Peripheral Focus: Peripheral devices are predicted to take
center stage, with the expected debut of a new skateboard controller,
music devices, a one-handed LED controller and many more. For the full list of predictions, visit ign.com/e3predictions/.

ALL HAIL IGN!!!!!!!!!!! (note the sarcasm)
I got some shit for E3 watch how I handle it this year ( I GOT SOME TARGETING TO DO ) Homeys in the hood knows what that means
My dude wants to get at you in Street Fighter IV.
PSN ID is crisis_psn.
LMAO, that’s hilarious. Glad I missed out on that one.
Tor what you have to realize is that if it isn’t IGN, then its 1up or Gamespot. Honestly it all comes down to the lesser evil and I would choose IGN over any other corporate website to gather all the news and exclusives. Of course there are other industry giants that I didnt mention such as G4, and MTV multiplayer, but they are totally irrelevant to this case because they are Cable TV giants.
What Im trying to say is that there has to be an industry standard in gaming media. You shouldn’t hate IGN simply because they have the resources to generate exclusive content. Honestly I dont understand why you would wanna deal with that headache Tor? You do what you do because you have a passion for it, unlike those other guys they do it because they get paid to. Use that to your advantage man. Your the underground shit. Like Mr. Miagi said “Focus Daniel son”.
Hopefully one day you get big enough to get the traffic that they get, but until then you need just take it day by day and take your own advice when you say dont forget about the little guy’s. Ive been around here for awhile now, only to recently have you remembering who I am. You’ve seen my work, and my compassion since day one. Its so funny though, reading this article seems really ironic to me. All I gotta say is Karma works in mysterious ways.
Yeah. It takes time to build up but at the same time you can shortcut it by doing something disruptive. The Warzone is a great start. I like the idea that yo can jump in and comment on the topics at hand. For example even though brainbasher is an Xbot, he really adds informative and relevant topics to the podcast. That’s what people want to hear more. The BitBag’s take on the news of the industry and elaborate on it. Kotaku became relevant after the whole PlayStation Home controversy back in March of 2007.
Well now you should have a word with Steven Totilo.

Yeah. Some garbage shit there.
I think that the Bitbag should start looking to network with other smaller websites. I’m not just talking about the sites that you normally communicate with. Sites like Talking About Games, All Games and Gamercast Network. You all need to combine and form like Voltron, T you can be the lion.
