[3:26:43 AM] Jon Shaw: t’s because with 1st party, you know where their allegiance lies, for one, because, well, they OWN them. You know that you won’t see that game or any other content for the game on any other console. Third party, though, is different. You can’t exactly hold onto exclusivity onto a third party title forever, and when that runs out, they are free to do whatever with it. Which means give it to the other system with some extra goodies to the people who were patient enough to wait, or things that they wanted to add but couldn’t, for whatever reason.The thing with MS right now is that they are depending too much on third parties, which is alright until you see the pattern you’re seeing now. MS doesn’t have much else to offer that we KNOW will only be on their system other than Halo Wars and ODST (at least for 09). Everything else is either multiplatform or DLC that they bought. Plus, those that chose not to buy the 360 for whatever reason, or bought the PS3 first (like I did, thus building more of a profile and more of a friends list on the PS3 than on the 360), are getting screwed out of certain things because of the manner that we keep seeing MS go about this. They not only are able to get a game onto their system that was a PS3 exclusive, and then want it at the same date and quality as the PS3 version (thereby gimping the PS3 version because of the smaller capacity of the 360’s optical storage format coupled with the MS way of doing business, and plus delaying the PS3 version even FURTHER because of the wait for the 360 version to get done).
Then it’s DLC, and though it’s good to be able to expand a game, this in a way forces a company to choose sides because MS seems to want to use this “DLC as a weapon” in which they pay millions just so their version is the only one with DLC. It gets annoying because for those that chose the other system or the other system’s version, it seems like they don’t care about the other version. Plus, for as much as they spend acquiring the exclusivity of the DLC (remember you need the DLC’s actual GAME to be able to play the DLC), they could’ve made another game.
So now you’re seeing the negative effects of this strategy. MS spent so much time worrying about Sony and grabbing everything they once had and using their money as a weapon that they forgot about their first parties. Remember, third parties can switch alliances at any point, and having no safety net for if and when it happens will destroy you.

first of all Sony doesn’t rely on one game (check PsX and 2 era)

back in 2007 is way all about the games. now its about game sales. i wonder why?
last gen ps2 owners talked about sales vs gc and xbox.
Graphics are the same on any format. Its all about the processing power and how you can utilize the console or pc’s strength to give the best resolution, most polygons, detailed textures, fill rate, and how many objects you have on screen. The ps3 is the stronger of the two simply because it can perform more actions at once and has less of a bottle neck when it comes to using memory. Thats why the ps3 can out perform the 360, it just takes more work to do.
BTW, Ive yet to see a game on the 360 look better then Heavenly Sword or Lair that were prettty much launch titles. Dont get me wrong. I love my 360, third party games like COD4 play a hundred times better simply because the 360 has better online network. I cant imagine playing a game like Killzone 2 on the 360. Thing is though you really cant blame sony. Microsoft put so many patents for its console that I dont even know how Sony’s online is as good as it is.

ps3 is not more powerful,it’s the same thing. it has a weaker gpu and less ram since it’s split. Also i never saw ps2 people care about graphics last gen so why now they do?

The ps3 has 2 gpu’s(graphics cards and the same amount of RAM but split in two pools). Its also has faster RAM and the ability to evenly distribute memory more efficiently then the 360 can. In La mans terms it means that the ps3 can make games run smoother, have higher resolutions, and more objects , animations, and particle effects on screen then the 360 can. I will admit. The 360 can produce the same effects, but its limited to how many things it can do at the same time and can only do so much before it chokes. The 512 MB of RAM can only do so much because all the information is going through the same access ways so there is a bottle neck effect, and that is bad because it will produce frame rate drops, lower resolutions, less detail, less animations, and less objects on screen. Its like trying to shove a watermelon down a garden hose. Shows how much you know about the ps3 hardware.
BTW,, Gears 1 looks like ass compared to HS or Lair. You would know that if you acctually played those games though. Ive yet to see any game on the 360 rival most of ps3’s exclusives, not just HS and Lair. Just cause your too broke to afford a ps3 doesn’t make it inferior in any way. Also, you should try doing some research on things before you talk about hardware specs on this site. People like me will do nothing but make you eat your own words. You are in total denial when even xbox marketers give props to the ps3. Your a fan girl, which is fine, but I will be honest. Ok so i am a fanboy now because i speak my opinion about a product i purchased with my fucking money, not once but twice so i supported sony with 1200 of my hard earned money so i can bitch and moan about what ever i don’t like about it if i very well choose to. Yes heavenly sword was a great game, i loved it, uncharted was a great game i loved it. but lets be honest i beat both those games on a single rent. same with most of the games of this generation on any system. For what i been told about what fucking blueray does, what the cell does and bla bla bla bla, there sure aren’t any games that are bigger in content from last generation. Don’t give me that mgs4 shit cause when i say more content im not talking about a fucking movie. So when i say power thats what the fuck im talking about. Then people say ohh the cell makes the games load faster and shit, well lets see i have to sit through a fucking 15 to 20 min game install for most of ps3 games so that makes you wonder about that shit.

wow that was looooonnnnnggg but funny at the end. i disagree with alot of things in there and i agree with alot. the wii is a beast but not my style i take nothing away from it success. the xbox is also not my style but still a good system i dont really need to talk to anyone in another game. really i dont like the 360 at all. ive played it and other than the rpg’s theres nothing i want on the system. ive played halo 3 and both gears and imo the graphics are not on par with some ps3 exclusives but the “gameplay” in gears is. i dont see the need to argue about anyones opinion if they like the wii and 360 then so what my girl likes the wii and some of my friend likes the 360. numbers dont lie but people do and people are the ones countin them that goes for everything
