The release date list has just arrived on my desk via explosive briefcase. For those of you who wanted solid release dates for the rest of the year, you’ve come to the right place. I have release dates for 8 games being dropped this year. November is the biggest so far for Playstation 3. I’ll start with May!
May
Cross Edge (PS3)
July
Blaze Blue (PS3,360)
September
Bayonetta (PS3,360)
October
Uncharted 2 (PS3)
November
Heavy Rain (PS3)
M.A.G. (PS3)
Assassins Creed 2 (PS3,360)
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time (PS3)
Modern Warfare 2 (PS3,360)
That’s the list so far folks! There’s plenty more to come and you know where to get it first!
X OUT!
-Weapon X

Weapon, the only million seller on that entire list is Modern Warfare 2, maybe. Ratchets sales are always terrible, M.A.G. is going to do nothing if there is no single player, Heavy Rain is overrated, & Assassins Creed will only be big for the 360. Uncharted may do something but I think it will sell 300k first month at best.
The first 3 games you listed may not make 100k.
Assassins Creed was big for both consoles it sold over 5 million, so it’s a million sellers, and how do you know Heavy Rain is overrated??
It’s just an opinion but i thought you should know Fatboy that Ratchet and Uncharted both sold over 1 million…. so ask yourself why wouldn’t these titles do the same?
Why do people insist on drenching comments with arguments about sales? I don’t give a flying fuck about sales and neither should any of you, unless you are being paid depending on how much the game sells. whether its a mainstream hit or not, ill probably be picking up most of these games on day 1. i may not have an xbox 360 but i intend on getting one, so i can enjoy all the great games of this generation, whether im the only one playing, or the game sells 10 million.
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!
@otherZinc,
Rachet and Clank: Future Tools of Destruction has sold over a Million copies Worldwide and it sold over a Million copies a couple of months after it came out in October 2007. If Future Tools of Destruction sold over a Million copies, I’m pretty sure the new Rachet game will as well.
Your opinions on Heavy Rain, M.A.G., and Assassin’s Creed 2 are totally irrelevant and baseless, so I’m not even going to waste my time responding on that.
Uncharted Drakes Fortune sold over a Million copies within a first few months of release and so far it’s sold over 2 million copies, and I see Uncharted 2 selling just as good, if not better. I could care less about first month sales, all I care about is getting quality games.
It sounds as if you are upset there aren’t any Xbox 360 Exclusives on the list, so you play the Sales Game. It’s a shame that sales of games are more important than the actual game itself this generation to so called “gamers”.
——————————————————————————
Anyways, Heavy Rain, M.A.G., and Ratchet all in November? If this is true, I think Sony should push back the release for either M.A.G. or Heavy Rain for December because they need a little more breathing room.
I really hate the fact that all the big games this gen. seem to always come out in such a short time period near the end of the year with a pretty dry Summer Period for games.
Right now I’m taking this list with just a grain of salt, and I’ll just wait until E3 to get confirmed release dates, but for now it looks promising
Yeah i hate when sales are brought up and it wasn’t even the topic of discussion. I agree Heavy Rain should indeed either be pushed up till the end of October or early December. Competing with M.A.G and MW2 will be hard….
I’m not arguing anything, I love discussing sales, that’s my field. Weapon brought it up, I responded, isn’t that what the boards are for?
Look up the sales of Ratchet & Uncharted, they were terrible & the only time they were good, a sale had to get them up to par. Sales are the bottom line of any business, I love it, I have a prediction, I’m not a fanboy, games is my passion outside of my family.
Good list Weapon X, I personally can’t wait for M.A.G, Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2, and maybe even Assassin Creed 2. Man 2009 going to be fierce.
doubt all these games will stay the same especially multiple sony exclusives in same month… but ya never know… thx weapon
@ Otherzinc. If thats your field then you need to get a new profession. You think what you said made sense and honestly you just sound like an ignorant asshole. BTW, quality>sales is Sony’s moto. Its not Sony’s fault that the majority of the population are a bunch of uneducated tards. Honestly, who cares if any of those games sell over a million. I feel blessed just to have these games considering 90% of the games out since the end of the ps2 era has been a bunch of shovelware and faulty innovations.
BTW Weapon, you listed these 8 games but there are alot more then just these games coming out. I could make the list for releases in 5 mins, but I like your enthusiasm. Keep it up though bro, we need more people like you actually putting some soul into this site.
I think its a pretty accurate list but the release dates are a bit off , i would think uncharted comes out in november and mag is coming in december and dont forget god of war 3 for december and granturismo 5 for december as well, and marvel vs capcom for october as a download.
@DragonWarrior4,
I don’t get into calling people names on the net, its “net muscles” you show because you damn sure wouldn’t say it to my face! So I’ll stick to talking about a hobby. You have an opinion & so do I, we can disagree without talking ****.
My Marketing & Sales skills are always on point. I never said sales = quality, you said that, however, sales does dictate a form of success to investors. I was right about LBP, Resistance 2, Lair, Heavenly Sword, HOME,& especially Killzone 2. I got banned from IGN twice for holding my ground on my predictions for LBP & Killzone 2. Its good I got banned, I found HipHop Gamer, Torrence & the crew, DLB, Gamesonsmash, & listen to the Warzone & DLB podcasts religiously several times a week, same episode until the new casts.
Its just my opinion & it was an educated opinion at that: LBP was a side-scroller that would sell millions on the Wii as MarioPlanet or something; Killzone 2 is missing the very important co-op feature with a constant AI partner for damn near the entire game, how stupid was that.
We can revisit this thread January 1st & see how right I am. Ive been playing games since 1976 & Pong, with my mom buying me an Atari 2600 in 1978 at Sears new for $400.00. Ive seen every trend & had all the great games, this generation is no different from the 1st.
Again, we’ll see if my comments make sense to you on January 1, 2010.
OH SHIT YOU HAD THE SEARS MODEL! My friend had that model. Do you remember the Space Invaders double-fire hack?
i saw you’re fuck n4g video a few weeks ago, yet this story has been posted on N4G????
i don’t understand
It wasn’t posted by me. One thing I can’t do is prevent fans from submitting articles to N4G.
What was your predictions otherZinc on LBP, Resistance 2, Lair, Heavenly Sword, HOME,& especially Killzone 2? Cause all those titles sold over a million copies except Lair. It does not matter if the game sells over 1 million in a week or a month as long as they get there.
Wow, do you really think your intimidating? LOL. Just so you know, I would say that to your face. Ive never been scared of anyone in my life and never will be. BTW, you might be old and wise, but you obviously dont know anything about this market’s trend. That doesn’t matter though. I know for a fact that your really just some retard who thinks he knows everything considering you just said that Heavy Rain is over hyped( who’s hyping that game?) and Modern Warfare MIGHT sell a million on the ps3(Your a tool if you think that). You just proved to everyone here that you have no fucking clue what your talking about with those statements. I could go on about other things you said but your not worth it.
Also, lets just say that you are who you say you are. Then that just proves that its people like you with your bullshit analyzing skills that keeps the economy fucked up the way its been and gives us the opposite of what consumers really want. Dude you dont know shit, so just do all of us a favor. Take your numbers and sales figures and shove them up your ass, and just stfu and play games. This is a gaming site for gamers, not some place for you to talk about your dumb ass theory’s about things that are irrelevant. Sure, numbers matter to publishers, but unless hardcore gaming dies because of sales, then those numbers dont mean shit to us true gamers.
why is this on N4G, you said you were never going to post anything on n4g again?
DUDE Read WTF!!!!!! Someone else posted the story on N4G. Torrence already addressed this in a Davis Daily. Seriously just read…
@ronaldobrasilero I think that someone else posted this on n4g by the way your user name is cool ,long live the real ronaldo from brasil the real king of soccer.lol
This on N4G because this somebody other than the bitbaggers posted it
I’m sorry, OtherZinc, but you come across as a jealous fanboy. Get over it. There’s some great games you won’t be playing this year as I’m sure you don’t have a PS3. I’m with DragonWarrior4, be a gamer not a microsoft/sony bitch.
Why do people act like sales make a game good? That tired old rhetoric is sad. I have no idea how well games like Shadow Of The Colossus, Vice City or MGS4 sold. But what I do know is that they are among the greatest games ever made.
Bit early to call it the gaming month of the century no?
@ Stubaca
Your right also NO ONE should care regardless of forte or hobby, when it comes to games priority 1 should be to play them. I literally laugh at analyst like Michael Patcher. Dude has been smearing bullshit numbers since the age of time. Look at his latest numbers, they’re completely off. Analyst and numbers crunchers should just crawl into a hole and shut up. They’re partly to blame for supporting the ever growing console cock buffing contest.
With all that **** talking aside, “gaming month of the century” is what I’m talking about.
I’m right the majority of the time about how well a game will be perceived in at retail, like it or not, its the bottom line. I play absolutely everything major except for RPG’s since 1976, everything! From Mazecraze to Killzone 2, all that & some crap in between.
@gmoney0505:
about the games you mentioned: every analyst in the book touted those games as difference makers, I said it wasn’t for various reasons & they sold like crap their first month. Investors don’t give a damn about a game selling over a million months or years later at a discounted price or as a pack-in at the Holiday season.
Everyone on this board has their own predictions as Weapon X believes this is going to be the November to remember for said games, I happen to disagree respectfully without calling him out his name like a kid. Its my opinion, again, Jan 1, 2010.
Oh shit! Mazecraze! This guy has done some GAMING!
@otherZinc:
This article is not about the sells of the game. Weapon does not say anything about a sell of the game. This article is about the quality of the games thats coming out on the PS3. You were the 1st to jump and say that it won’t be a November to Remember just because you think that they won’t be million seller games in a month. All 5 of those games are looking to be quality games and I agree with Weapon. What other month this generation do you know that 5 quality games (not million dollar selling games) comes out in the same month?
I know Sony will spread those games out eventually.
See I told you guys, this dude is a retard. Hes right the majority of the time huh? Well hes wrong this time if thats the case. Hahaha.
Dragonwarrior4, the day you learn to debate without calling someone a name will be a great one. Try to get to that goal. There’s no reason why we can’t debate about games without calling each other names.
@ Dragonwarrior4, seriously, stop the hate on other people just because they have a different opinion. Is he a retard just because he does not agree with you? -.-
Now to the topic. Looks like a pretty solid year, and that list will obviously get more games on it, on both consoles, so that everyone will have a great year with their consoles. So no one has to worry about that. Sure, there are not many 360 games on that list, but announcements will happen, especially during E3, so the owners will hopefully be pleased.
I agree that the focus on sales should decrease, but we must all say that we humans like numbers – to compare them, increase/improve and analyze them. That’s just in our genes. I don’t know what point I’m trying to make – maybe that we can’t live with or without them (U2 ftw).
Well if we delve into if we, as gamers, should care about sales, I must say a little bit. Obviously, i can be wrong, but this is what I think. In a short period of time sales doesn’t matter at all. For instance LBP, an awesome game with only moderate sales. Who cares about if other people won’t buy it, right? You still get your game, and the sales wont change the fact that it’s an awesome game.
In the long run, it CAN affect us though. Innovative games like LPB and Mirror’s edge. Games that pushes the gaming world forward. I guess Mirror’s edge is the best game of these two to try to prove my point, so I will stick to that game. This game – crafted by DICE here in Sweden did not sell very well, unfortunately. EA opened their wallet and a risky project started. Now with the result, in sales obviously. Do you guys think they will make Mirror’s Edge 2? Maybe, but the chances have decreased because of the sales. So sales DO matter in the long run. Therefore I make a sadface when I see great games sell bad, because I know that it might prevent innovation for instance, in the future.
The last thing I want to say and ask you people about. Why do you want M.A.G. so badly? Is it because of the amount of players on a server? I mean, as a FPS-Multiplayer-player (awesome word) on PC, you know that it’s the gameplay that counts. Look, even though I don’t like Counter Stike myself, people are playing it. And we have yet not seen real gameplay and no one, except the developers have played it. The amount of players does ONLY make me skeptical. The reason why games do not have that high amount is because it will create lagg, lagg and lagg. And lagg is the enemy of every gamer. Maybe they have a solution. I’m not that into the details of the game, but my guess is that if it will be laggfree the player/m^2 ratio will be low => i don’t really see the point, but that’s just me.
My point is, don’t hype this game too much.
I hear what your saying and it has been said before. It’s pretty much common sense but i wanted to comment on M.A.G. The thing that intrigues me about M.A.G. isn’t the amount of players. I like how structured the game is sounding, it’s not just 128 vs 128 deathmatch.
-Dedicated servers with new network architectures to help reduce lag
-Customize face, voice, armor
-8 players in a squad, 4 squads in a platoon, 4 platoons in a company
-Individual squads/platoons have missions/goals and secondary missions/goals
-Other game modes including Acquisition, Sabotage and Suppression
I mean as long as they show us some gameplay to go along with the things i listed above im stoked! Zipper has been running 256-player tests since Nov. 2008 and said they’re planning on having a beta. I’m not sure if it’s open or not but with a game like that they’ll need the beta to help for a smooth release.
@ Sajmon. Ahhh wall of text! Dude, I just told him to shut his mouth up about numbers,, thats not being negative, thats being real. True gamers talk about games, not how many copies they are selling. GTFO of here with that shit man.
@Sajmon,
Exactly!
@Warrior, I’m not a real gamer, I date back to the start of all this, if I’m not a real gamer, there isn’t 1 gamer on any gaming site in the world! I know the business, & like Torrence said a few podcasts back, “buy the damn game” referring to Killzone2.
I’m still pissed there’s no Brute Force 2, I thought the game was good, 278k sold month 1. Not enough for the hype the game generated. This is why its taking so long for a Team ICO game to surface, the first 2 sold terribly for the hype surrounding it. This is also why you see a new madden game & COD game every year.
As I said earlier, MAG for example; it needs a single player or its going to the dogs, I don’t care how much its hyped. Everyone doesn’t play competitively online, that’s a mistake some of these developers are making today.
On the Warzone tonight, ask Weapon X to explain how 09 November will beat 08 November. I’m not taking a shot at you Weapon, I’d just like to hear the discussion.
this is what i call a healthy discusion , pationate of each opinions and yet mature enough to not go acting like 9 year olds and calling each other names and reffreing to any racial slurrs. This is why i love this site ,because it caters to the mature gamer its a site wear i could find guys like otherZinc who has been gaming like myself since the atari days, this is indeed a good day to be on the bit bag.
@otherZinc im 36years old myself and have been gaming since 1980 when i picked up the old coleco handheld football game and the 2600 console for christmas, so i would like to ask you a question if you dont mind to answer , what is your favourite console and game of all time , I know that their will be many that you like but what truly stands out in your opinion. For me my favourite console of all time would have to be the Nec pc engine and favourite game would be Kato & Ken also for the pc engine .By the way for those that dont know the pc engine was the japanese version of the turbografx 16 and that console for all you fnaboys out their won the sixteenbit era even though it wasnt a true sixteen bit machine. but for me im a gamer and i dont really care which console wins in any generation cause i will pick up all of them , and enjoy all.Any how i think i pulled the payback ironman thing on the warzone and went off topic a bit and created some new topic or content .LOL
Your right Tor. I will definitely try my hardest not to put people down. Its just so hard to see people stain this site with garbage. It wouldn’t have been half as bad if it was just an opinion, but when you start throwing numbers and say things that dont make sense then I just get really upset.
Zinc, Im 28 and have been gaming since I was 4 years old. My first console was the atari 5200. Ive had damn near every console since then, Turbo graphics, Neo Geo, all four of segas consoles(sega master, genisis, CD, and Dreamcast), and almost everything in between. Never in my life have I seen numbers been discussed like this among gamers until this generation. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been gaming. True gamers talk about games, not how good they are selling. Unless you are a preferred stock holder then I could see why you would care. If not then just shut the hell up.
Believe me when I say that I will always smash you when I see a subject arise that is irrelevant to the cause. Its cool to have an opinion, but just try to keep it about the games. If you do that , then I promise you that I will keep it clean, but if not? Then I will be all over you like flies on shit. I will always be a thorn on your side.
BTW, You might have been gaming for a long time, but maybe you don’t realize yet that you aren’t hardcore. Thats like saying you used to be a player and got alot of pussy when you were young but now you are married. Your obviously not a player anymore man. There will be a time in your life when you realize it, and maybe even humble yourself and stop being so arrogant and say things like ” Im right the majority of the time”. Shit like that has to stop. People who say that are actually naive, and oblivious to the things that really matter. And that is how I percieve you. Till then, I will stay true to my word. But if you fuck with the bull, you WILL get the horns.
@ Haggs5tow
Dude Kieth Courage is one of my favorite games in the old days. No machine could match the ice effects as good as that game did till the N64 came out. Even then it was about the same. I would even give it a slight edge on the TG16. Bonks adventure was one of my favs as well.
@hagggs5tow,
So hard to give my favorite console & game. I’ll have to say the 360 & Halo 3. Long story short: My son beat Halo 1 by himself on easy at 3 & 1/2; my wife let him wait at 12am to buy Halo 2 at the age of 5 because he didn’t have pre-school the next day; I wait in a massive line to buy 2 Legendary copies of Halo 3, I could live without a second helmet but my now 6 year old daughter couldn’t. We play 3 player co-op all the damn time, a 6 year old daughter, 9 year old son, & me 40 year old dad: PRICELESS! All my consoles work except the 5200 because the attachment to the back of the tv is broken. Also, they’re all original machines.
Others: Atari 2600 Combat. NES Tecmo Bowl. SNES Contra 3 Alien Wars. Sega Genesis Streets of Rage. PS1 Tomb Raider. Dreamcast Speed Devils. I can go all day with the Atari games. My wife said those old games in the closet need to go, I said, “you go before the games go”!
@Warrior4,
You can attempt to smash me all you want, I learned how to predict markets in college, in a course called Consumer Behavior a 453 marketing course. Michael Pachter does the same thing, I’m just more accurate than he because video games is my hobby for life, he does it for a job, however, I love the guy. Its ok to think you’re right most of the times, if you don’t, who will? I hope you remember this debate Jan 1, 2010.
We had the same debates with the SNES & Genisis, Saturn & PS1. One of the greatest debates of ALL TIMES; was my cousin smashed me on Tomb Raider for the PS1 vs Tomb Raider for the Saturn. He called Laura Croft a Chicken McNugget when she turned into gold on my Saturn compared to the PS1 when she turned into “real gold”. It was over! My Saturn version got killed, it was the greatest debate EVER!
We even battled with the Atari 2600 & the Odyssey; 5200 & Intellivision, Sega Master System & NES; even Tecmo Bowl, Madden, & Joe Montana football. We even battled that Atari 2600 block football vs Intellivision football. Warrior4, this is going to go on forever, my boys have been at this long before you were thought of & it will continue. We have the most fun with it because we play everything.
