Do you think as of right now how the PS3 was built and designed…. that it can match the online features of xbox live… and are they really working on it… or do you think they might have realized that guess what we didnt free up enough resources for our system to do things like the 360 does with live on the fly…..kind of like they used up too much resources to just open the xmb let alone try to have features like voice msgs … invites etc…. Basically do you think they are 2 stepping their fans by saying that they are working on this etc…when in reality… maybe they cant do it?
And yes to everyone that may disagree… we all know all the game companies are full of crap… so this is just a question directed about the ps3.. because well they havnt been bringing anything to the online table…for gaming functionality that is….kind of like the bullshit nonsense that they added with their “New” text feature lol lmao…… Im scared to even be opening that stuff when playing games like Soocm… because your chancing a possibility of your system locking up and freezing in socom… or their servers f ing up and dropping you left and right.

I’ve been visiting kotaku and psu for quite a while now and just a couple months ago was introduced thebitbag, and lemme tell ya, things run pretty differently down here. I just wanna say that how you do your Davis Dailys is pretty awesome. Period.
Ok for questions:
1) My PS3 just got the yellow light of death yesterday. I called up support and it was pretty quick to determine that I had to send it in, which I already knew because of the internet. But the guy on the phone told me, if it wasn’t repairable that it would be replaced by a 60gb with the same features. After hearing you say something about the 80gb fiasco, I’m kinda skeptical. I, for one, don’t really mind if its not backwards compatible, but was wondering, was that 80gb story just one out of many, or a guy with bad luck?
2) I also saw that you built your own computer. I kinda wanted to do something like that of my own. I’ve got a long summer ahead of me and building one would kill some downtime. I’m not the biggest computer techie, but a point in the right direction would be great, soooo where do I start?

he actually was not lying about his e3 arrangements, that is all he stated, he was making arrangements, he never states actually getting his ticket to e3, he was making his arangements as for hotels ect. he was just in the area and thought he would show off the building and just kinda build hype as all of us at every site are waiting for e3 this year!

I have nothing against DLB. This guy started off BIG. He went from being BIG and ORIGINAL to just posting news from other sites. Ironically, YOU are one of the most creative guys on the site. You create fresh content. He relies too much on other sites news. If he went back to doing his videos every week, he would be the shit. All of his fans want him to do it more but he won’t. With the following he has and his current Alexa rating, he could be getting free games, tons of info and a free pass to all the shows. Why isn’t he doing this? Why isn’t he adding himself to every press list he can? Why has his show gone downhill and not up hill? The podcast is ok too. Tell him what I said. He never answers anyone.

I agree that Kotaku shouldn’t be doing their reviews in that style. I like it when MobyGames or MetaCritic do that because you receive a much more balanced opinion on the game using the average of reviews from all over. The difference is that a) Kotaku are a news site while MobyGames and MetaCritic are dedicated to compiled review scores, and b) Kotaku only take the reviews of a few big gaming sites.

Sales determine what games you get and also on what platform. If the PS3 was up to the sales standards of the PS2 do you think that Final Fantasy XIII, Assassin’s Creed, Sonic the Hedgehog, Devil May Cry 4, Virtua Fighter 5, Ace Combat 6, Resident Evil 5, Tekken 6, Monster Hunter 3, Dragon Quest IX, etc would’ve been on 360, DS, or Wii? Also exclusives DO sell systems. Nobody buys a console by accident.
I see your point but let me offer you a different point of view. You could say that sales determine what games you get on what platform and you could also be wrong by saying that. If that’s the case, why weren’t the majority of those games on the Wii? Not saying your wrong but if sales determine things like that, how do you explain that? In my opinion, sales determine whether or not you get another game(sequel) in most cases. The higher the sales, the more likely we are to get sequel.
Look at the Yakuza series for example, it sells great in Japan but not in other regions, so Sega basically said because of sales, other regions aren’t getting it. So why is the series not on the 360 or Wii?
You are also forgetting that when the PS2 first released, it released with almost zero competition. So those games had the choice to either be on the PS2 or not on anything.
I didn’t purchase my PS3 because of any particular exclusive that was coming, I bought it because I knew that eventually it would produce great games. Same goes for when I purchased my Xbox 360 (although I don’t have it anymore, it died on me 3 times in 2 months) but I knew the same.
Again I not completely disagreeing with you, just providing a different perspective.
The the reason the majority of those games arent’t on the Wii is because time and again it’s been reminded that 3rd party IP doesn’t do well on that platform. The reason Yakuza is only on the PlayStation platform (I got Yakuza 3 for the record. The Advent Children Complete LE is on the way!) is because it performs well in Japan AND only in Japan. Putting it on a another platform and degrading quality just for what sales again? If it didn’t do well on PS2 twice, then it definitely ain’t doing shit on 360. Talk to the 360 owners and study the mentality of these gamers or better yet look at the Major Nelson Top Ten XBOX Live list. Even the biggest fighting game releases are at the bottom or do make it at all and that is something that Microsoft more than any other has been trying to shed the sterotype for years because at the end of the day casuals determine the success of the platform.
The PS2 had competition and it was the Sega Dreamcast. However at that time Nintendo unveiled the GAMECUBE at Spaceworld 2000 (I still to this day remember that godlike trailer of Zelda with Link vs Gannondorf!) and with talk of Microsoft’s XBOX and then the world premier from EGM, that was it. Four platforms definitely couldn’t have work in that time’s business model. People was questioning whether 3 could work. Just show how much growth is still need in the industry. I would personally want Apple in the game to make things even. Apple vs Nintendo vs Microsoft vs Sony so that way both Nintendo and Microsoft don’t stealth both tag against Sony which everyone by now should realize. Examples of Microsoft praising Nintendo’s success (John Shappert and Aaron Greenburg) and Nintendo saying good things about Microsoft’s XBOX Live service (Gametrailers TV interview with Reggie) and yet they BOTH disrepect Sony?!?
