The Lost and Damned puts you in the shoes of Johnny Klebitz, the Vice President of the Alderney Lost MC chapter. Billy Grey, the chapter’s President, has been in rehab for a year. During this year Johnny has made truces with many gangs throughout Liberty City, enabling the Lost to become one of the bigger gangs in the city. As soon as Billy gets out of rehab all hell breaks loose because he wants to shoot first and ask questions later. This creates tension between Billy and Johnny, this tension serves as the main plot throughout the rest of the story. GTAIV’s storyline gets tied in beautifully and seamlessly and in turn adds more to Niko’s story. Ever wonder who kidnapped Roman? Or who that biker you killed for Faustin really was? All these questions are answered, creating a feeling of a bigger world within Liberty City.
The graphics are what you come to expect from GTA and they’re no slouch. The RAGE engine has the nicest weather effects aside from Killzone 2 and makes the city feel as if you’re actually there. TLAD comes with a screen filter that makes the environment look darker and dirtier, this is a default setting but it can be easily turned off from the menu screen.
The controls are the exact same as IV, but the motorcycle controls have been improved. The controls for the motorcycles in IV were very sensitive and not just because you were riding ninja style bikes because the odd time you would find a chopper in IV the sensitivity would still be too high. Thankfully in TLAD the motorcycles seem to hug the road more, creating the situation where you will most likely only use a vehicle when the story calls for it. TLAD also adds more weapons and vehicles. New weapons include: an automatic pistol, sawed-off shotgun and pipe bombs. New vehicles include Jonny and Billy’s custom bikes.
Multiplayer has been beefed up with 6 new modes:
• Witness Protection - One team is The Lost biker gang and they must try to eliminate a bus carrying witnesses while the other team is NOOSE who try to protect the bus as it delivers the witnesses to police stations around Liberty City.
• Race – Racing on bikes while carrying bats and smashing each other, based on the video game Road Rash.
• Lone Wolf Biker – Free for all style mode where one player is the Lone Wolf and all other players must chase and kill that player to become the Lone Wolf. At the end of the game, whoever was the Lone Wolf for the longest time, wins.
• Own the City – Try to gain control of the city section by section, based on San Andreas’ gang wars.
• Club Business – Like the original Mafia mode in GTA IV, but with a total of 8 players riding together as one gang. You receive calls from Angus who tells you to carry out certain tasks for The Lost.
• Chopper vs. Chopper – Helicopter vs. bike. Bike rider tries to get through checkpoint while helicopter tries to stop the biker.
These new modes are fun to play and it’s a shame that the GTA online community has faded away.
This DLC is definitely a must buy for anyone who has GTA IV, and if you don’t go pick up a used copy of IV and play through both you’re missing out. The Lost and Damned defines what an episodic DLC pack should be and for this it earns an SS.

You gave this dlc an SS and KIllzone 2 only an S? I know its your opinion but dude , lets be serious. This $20 dollar game is nowhere near as good as one of the best shooters of all time. Ive played China Town Wars and that game is more fun then GTA4. Are you gonna tell me I have the right to give it a higher score then Killzone 2? Damn kids.
Damn kids? Man Killzone 2 is a 60$ retail game so I reviewed it like a 60$ retail game. TLAD is a 20$ episodic DLC so I reviewed it as a DLC not a 60$ Retail game. TLAD defines what a episodic DLC should be so it earns a ss. Killzone 2 while great does not define the FPS genre.
Dont sit here and justify yourself Spenny. Just take criticism for what it is. Criticism. You judged it for what it is, but a score is a score, and a fanboy is a fanboy.
You just gave a game a score that it doesn’t deserve. Youve done it twice. Like I said, its an opinion, and dont take it so seriously, but dont think you are fooling me when you say this game gets an SS when you have obviously never played a $20 dollar game that deserves that score. Wipeout HD deserves an SS, Burnout, Siren, even Braid deserves that score. Chinatown Wars is a better game and its on the DS. I called you a child because of how you grade your reviews.
You didn’t even give a good reason why this game gets a SS.. You said the game has good weather effects and then said Killzone 2 has bette r, so whats really goin on in your head dude? Ive just read the reaview 2 times and im still trying to see this SS that you gave this game.
This review lacks substance. Its like you did it half assed and there is no justification for the score you gave it. You said one good thing about it. You wanna know why I get upset? Its because I love this website. Ive been going going on this site for almost 2 years now and I dont want this site to lose any credibility because some kid doesn’t know how to entice people to come back.
All im saying is you should try to make your reviews a little in depth, or at least give a couple of paragraphs on what you liked or disliked about this game. You should stop making reviews if your not gonna even bother doing that.

Basically you showed you have a fanboy point of view on this topic because you compared 2 games that really have nothing in common…..Killzone is a full $60 retail copy of an FPS game…… GTA 4 Lost and Damned is a $20 DLC based on a third person open world…..If you think these two should be directly compared and reviewed the same then you need to feel your head….

* On a side personal note…. please dont call Killzone 2 one of the best FPS games ever made… because thats a bold claim that the game does not live up to…. It might be the best looking FPS on a console ever… but that will only last so long as well… in Reality Killzone 2 is a great game and a very good FPS but does not stand in the realms of one of the best… Hell by the end of CMAS this year the game will most likely will be forgotten…It Might be your fav or pick for best FPS….. but that is far from the majority… hell it isnt even the most popular FPS right now and its been out for a little over a month. And yes popularity doesnt mean a game is good but in the FPS world with online multiplayer… it usually does.

Just so you know, Spenny is a little kid, so its not really an insult. I always cuss at him, just ask him whats the first thing I call him every time I talk to him. Secondly, Dragonwarrior, I’m only gonna defend you because I know how you are. Whenever DW4 goes on a tirade, don’t take it personal. It’s that simple. It’s his way of communication. He’s very passionate and it comes out in his comments.

I thought Spenny did a good job on the review. I think the problem that DW4 is having is that he doesn’t HYPE the game up to be an SS. Not that he should change the grade. I think the DLC is worth an SS too. If I were to write the review, by the time you got to the end of it you would know the score before you saw it. You would also know why I gave it an SS.
Just remember that reviews are opinions and GTAIV and KZ2 are two completely different games. They don’t match up so you can’t compare their scores.
DW4, keep pushing forward man. We’ve all had tough times. Maybe not as tough as you but we’ve all had them. I can’t train everyone to write reviews like I think they should. I don’t have the time or the patience for that. So I try to help people along the way. Spenny’s doing a good job so far. Give him room to breathe.
