    Nintendo really could have done more with the Wii.

    Great post Spencer.

  • That’s awesome. Good find Spencer. I agree Wii could have been made in HD. Sad Nintendo hurts the market by not pushing High-Definition like the others.

    how did nintendo hurt the market? Not every one wanted an hd tv and not every one can afford a hdtv. So instead of alienating people and forcing them to upgrade equipment they gave them a system they can have fun on without having to go out and spend 1,000s of dollars on a tv, yea hdtvs are cheaper now but some people still don’t want to spend that much on a tv when they already have a tv that works just fine. esp when they don’t have hd programing. What we have to remember we are not the only type of gamers out there (hardcore), there is a whole new generation of kids out their, along with a whole new generation of gamers, and lets face it i don’t think its that easy to convince your mother to buy you a $600 dollar console and then go buy a 700 and up hdtv. Every one isnt swimming in the cash.

    But to agree with you as well they could have had the option in there.

    @Bullywithafully01:
    Nintendo is hurting the HD market by not having HD on their console. Why? Nintendo supports SD which works on regular TV’s and HDTV’s. The Xbox 360 and PS3 support SD and HD, which means that if players want to play in HD with great visuals, then they will need an HDTV. By not having HD on the Wii, Nintendo does not force consumers to go out and buy a nice new HDTV to get the full experience. This indeed hurts the HD market. By the way, Microsoft and Sony are not “alienating people” because they do include cables in their systems that work on a regular SD TV.

    i dont know if youre forgetting or just choosing to ignore the fact that by giving consumers the option to play in hd, it would jack up the price of the console significantly. nintendo would not be able to sell as many wiis starting at $400 when it launched in 2006.

    nintendo may be hurting the hd market (this is arguable, by the way), but its sony and microsoft who are alienating a whole new generation of gamers, and by doing so hurting the gaming industry all together.
